OK, time to get this started for the classic discussions forum. Let's start building a list that others can use as a guide - even if your suggestions don't make the list, at least your suggestions get seen! These threads should be especially handy to people who got their systems recently and want to start out with the "A List" of games to pick from.
So let's start the "A List". What would you add to it?
NOTE: * = exclusive to this system (for now)
Metroid Prime 3 *
Super Mario Galaxy *
Super Paper Mario *
Wii Play *
Wii Sports *
Zack and Wiki *
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess *

My vote so far goes to...
Metroid Prime 3- an awesome game, without any exceptions. A must have for all Wii owners.
And a few others I've played...
Ghost Squad (cheesy arcade Virtua-Copesque game)- Honorable Mention
Wii Play (for the Tank game alone)- Honorable mention
Wii Sports (great party game- but I'm sure anyone who has a Wii already knows this)

Definitely needs to be there. Brilliant design and something that uses the Wii to it's fullest.

Twilight Princess should lose its *, since it's on the Gamecube as well.
My nominees are all on the list already (Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports).

Yes, I'm keeping up-to-date lists of the 25 best and worst Wii games based on review scores. They seem to be coming in handy. :)

Kororinpa - Marble Mania is one of the few (maybe the only) Wii games I have played through and fully completed. Any Monkey Ball, Marble Blast, Marble Madness or other ball rolling game fans needs to check this game out.

I just received Kororinpa from Konami today. I tried out a few levels after work and it's fun.
Mercury Meltdown Revolution is fun, too. Now I own both...two great games, brand new, for $40 total!

I like Wii Sports. It is easy to just pick up and play and there is a fair amount of variety between sports/games.

Will we include WiiWare titles when they launch or is this retail box only?
I'm sure the WiiWare Tetris is going to be an instant favorite.
Here's a gimme - Super Smash Bros Brawl*

My relationship with Mario Kart Wii has been a particularly interesting one. When I bought it and played through for the first time, I thought it might be the scariest, most poorly-executed installment in the series. Not that I didn't like the gameplay (though it took me a while to get in the groove), it just seemed like they were making a game that was doing an impression of the series.... None of the characters looked quite right, you know? There's no graphical polish to them, it's almost like they're made of play-doh or something...and the voices sound waaay off-kilter (close your eyes...think of Donkey Kong getting a red shell in the backside...the horror, the horror). But it seemed like the more I played, the more I couldn't put it down. I had discovered the online play - probably the best of any Wii game out so far, there was nothing to it, and I hardly came across the problems of lag and inconsistency displayed by, say, Brawl. It's still my favorite Wii game for parties, and I'd say that despite its weird look, it ought to be up there with the good ones.
I played through Twilight Princess, but really felt like that was it. I didn't feel like there was enough in it for it to be a Zelda game. Side quests, secrets to explore and collect, etc. I'll probably be thoroughly hazed for that, and that's okay with me. But I did love the look of it, and the gameplay was solid - my favorite part of any new Nintendo installment, is when they take you somewhere completely new; I'd say that for me it was 50/50 old and new on this game, where some spots I felt were pretty routine and slightly tweaked from some old formula-starting moment in the series, and some spots came quite unexpectedly: my favorite example being the rickety old mansion in the mountains you get to explore. The puzzles and some of the quests to get to that place are just very well thought-out and fun.
I'd say my favorite Action/Adventure game thus far would be Resident Evil 4, or (and I figure this won't count) the New Control! Pikmin. Both are total masterpieces.
Nothing really tops either of the Super Mario Galaxies though!!

Funny, once I got the wii and i started playing some WiiWare games. A couple where fun but the bulk where just trash, then I got the old school gaming bug and starting buying some cheaper GameCube games like, Ultimate Muscle Legends vs New generations and some of the Midway arcade treasures games for the gamecube. My gamecube collection is looking pretty nice and now I 'm going to the NES, there is just some simple twitch factor i get with those games that i just don't get with the new ones.
I recently played Ice Hockey for the NES and had the best 30 minutes.

I would add
New Super Mario Bros. Wii*
to the list. I had an excellent time with the game and it really brought back a lot of good elements to the franchise such as koopalings in a main game again. It is actually the only Wii game I beat 100% so far.

My favorite Wii games are all of the ones I have currently, but in particular ones that I like are:
-Trackmania: Build to Race. This was released earlier this year after many delays and worries that it was going to be canceled in the U.S. It's a good port of the extremely popular PC racing game. You get all the content from Trackmania United (i.e. new environments) plus online and split-screen multiplayer, and you can share your tracks with your friends on the Wii. The only problem? Almost NO ONE plays this online. I have not been able to find anyone online, at least where I am in the United States (GA). There's plenty of people on the Leaderboards, but not anyone online, unless the Matchmaking is broken or something.
-Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 or 12' The Masters. I love playing these games with the motion controls. It's really fun using the Wii Remote to hit the golf ball instead of a normal controller. Plus, the Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour '12 has all of the courses that are DLC on the PS3/360 (or most of them).
-Wii Sports Resort (obviously)
-Tetris Party Deluxe
-GoldenEye 007
-Sonic Colors

Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Very elegant game. Not to intricate, but the visuals are stunning and the gameplay is smooth. It reminds me of something from the 32-bit era of 2D.
Little King Story - ADDICTIVE! This game I bet slipped under most players radars...well don't let it escape you anymore, buy it! One of the most fun games I've played (and lost sleep over) in recent years.

Recently started with Call of Duty Black Ops, - loved the new combat training mode which sort of an ice breaker for new players before going into intense competitive action.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade is a sweet little game. Sonic Colors is actually pretty good, and not just for a modern Sonic game either. Mario Kart Wii is still a favorite.
