I was going to pick up Street Fighter Apha 2 for the Sega Saturn, but then I came across the 2 disc Street fighter Collection for it. This collection contains two versions of SF II but also has Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold.
My question is... Is SFA2 Gold everything SFA2 is and more? What exactly are the differences? Is it an arcade revision that had a few gameplay tweaks or extra characters?
The SF Collection costs a bit more than SFA2 but if im going to get a better or "fuller" version of SFA2 with it then I might as well go for it.

Pick up the collection as fast as you can. It is the better of the 2 versions it has different modes Like Akuma Mode.
The funny thing is I have made so much money off that mode over the years. All it is is a battle against akuma you lose you are out. I would bet die hard street fighters that given 30 chances they couldn't beat it on hard. man was I right that mode is one of the toughest on hard I have seen. Never seen anyone beat akuma mode on hard with the stars ramped up.
Great game hard to find especially the saturn version.

for w/e strange reasons, I preferred Alpha 2 over A2Gold. But of course, with SSF and SSFT, the SFC package is tough to beat. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Plus Cammy is hidden in SF Alpha 2 Gold :)

I may be mistaken, but I think the vanilla SFA2 has more "modes", like a tournament mode and stuff, whereas Alpha 2 Gold on the collection is pretty much a straight arcade port.

I know for a fact the energy bar was changed in A2G, and I hated the look of it. Sorry if I sound super superficial here, but it was one of a few aspects that bugged me about 2 Gold. Like you, I also kinda remember SFA2 having an extra mode that 2 Gold didn't have. And bloody hell, I never cared for that Akuma mode 'exclusive' to 2 Gold.

SFA2 is pretty common. Given the opportunity I would get both.
