well, i made the decision to sell of my collection, and have recently sold off my favorite item. The Atari 2600 Controller Test Console. I occasionally post threads simply for posterity, so if anyone finds one of these there is at least the information available for them when they do a search...

anyway, i figured id post some pics for people not familiar with these, or just because its a damn cool item. first pic is the system itself, allowing for one to plug in power cords, paddles or joysticks and see if they work. a green light lights up if the controller works, and dims(as i recall) as the paddles turn. There is a plastic panel that fits agaisnt the back of it, and cardboard cartds that tell you how the system works. i probably should have gotten pics of those, but i have spares somewhere and ill add scans when i get there. the second pic is of a sticker on the back side of the back panel...though i have no idea what the sticker says that is below this sticker - though it looks the same size. the last pic is the phone number for servicing of the service console! to be performed by an authorized atari repair center only. huh. the silver sticker below the phone numbers is just the location this unit once sat at - i have an entire roll of those stickers.

buyer was Atarimonkey on ebay if anyone knows him; price(if anyone cares) was a BIN $250.

I've always wanted one of these or one of the nes or snes counter testers or test carts but that'll probably be quite a way down the road.

I love seeing old Atari oddities like this. I think I've seen pics of one of these things before but I'm not sure. That would be a pretty cool item to add to a collection. Too bad it didn't test the games too.
