Ah, my Odyssey 3000~ what a conversation piece. I ordered it off of eBay in October 1999 from a very nice gentleman who even included batteries so I could play it right when I got it!
Well, I come back from class one day to find a voicemail on my phone from my dad, saying I needed to call up the Post Master at the local PO to clear up some confusion. So I call, I get the Post Master, and he tells me that a rather large package is addressed to me is being held at the Post Office. "It's making noises," he says, "when it's shuffled a bit. Now we don't want to alarm you, but we want everyone to be safe in a situation like this. It's been quarentined for now, until we get the go ahead from you. Do you happen to know the contents?" So I asked for the sender's address. Since I paid with Paypal, I never took note of the guys name. Luckily I was sitting in front of the computer, so I opened the auction and compaired the shipped from city. It turned out to be the Pong unit I had just won. I kind of laughed and told the Post Master to deliver it, it was just an old videogame machine. Then I said the guy probably forgot to remove the batteries.
When I opened up the package, sure enough, he forgot to take out the batteries and the hardwired speakers in the Pong unit was making the noises when the unit was shuffled.
