well, i'm hoping to make a list here. give me open suggestions.
Phosphor Dot Fossils

Tron
Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Return Of The Jedi
Krull
Dune (as usual, I'm thinking specifically of Dune 2/Dune 2000 here)
Ghostbusters
I would add "Star Trek" to the list, but the arcade game Sega turned out, despite having artwork derived from - and riding on the back of - Star Trek II, was really more of a game play simplification/graphical upgrade of the computer game that had been hanging around for ages, and that was inspired more by the TV series.

I remember seeing "ABPA Backgammon" at a drive-in back in 1976. My main memories of that event were making out with my girlfriend in the car and accidentally spilling Fresca and Tab on her cowneck sweater. But there were a few scenes that stand out in my mind, like the gripping, emotional scene where Joan Van Ark is arguing with Cliff Robertson, and screaming, "Sometimes I think that you feel that Backgammon is more important than me!". She storms out of the room and Cliff Robertson (who plays 59th level backgammon master "Clutch" O'Patrick) just sits there, coolly, staring at the backgammon board. Classic. Near the final third of the movie is a genre-defining laser battle sequence which occurs as Clutch and his girlfriend (having reconciled) are making the interstellar journey to the Intergalactic Backgammon Parsec Classic on Xymka Prime. The way Clutch weaves and swoops his K-wing fighter in between the bio-ships of the H'meullanese Pirate Convoy and single-handedly eradicates them is truly breathtaking. I'm really surprised you haven't seen this; it's a significant watershed moment in American cinema.
I don't know a whole lot about the other ones, except that 3-D Tic Tac Toe is a porno.

Some people are quite fond of the original Great Escape for the C64, but fat chance the new game will be anything like that.

Batman for the NES, hands down! Incredible! Unbelievable! The PRIME of NES games! I loved Batman Returns for SNES when it came out, but it didn't hold the long lasting appeal of the NES Batman game, which I still play to this day.
How about the worst? Judge Dredd, Genesis/SNES, Time Cop SNES! Although I know we could all go on forever!
