Are vendors at MGC cash-only, or are they set up to take cards? Or do they at least take checks?

There were issues of people having trouble due to the security that their wi-fi has a year or two ago. Don't know if it's been fixed or not, but bring it along anyway.

You can bring whatever. They have a nice "supply" section at the Pick-N-Save that we always hit up. This year we should actually have a place to put it all.

I recommend that you come. It is a good time, if nothing else for the social factor. By the way, we need to come up with some kind of DP meetup for the show. I know most of the DPers that are going to be vending/attending, but there are also those that I don't. Any ideas?

I have a larger booth than last year and I will be bringing 10 arcade machines along.

what do you guys want me to bring?

I vote for Tron, Tempest, Super Off Road- stuff with unique controllers.

I'm packing and pricing. So far I have:
Genesis and SMS (imports for both, but LOADS of SMS imports) (deals on loose carts)
A few imports like Wonderswan
An N-gage QD in package with a few games

and what I'd really like to pass on is most of my large selection of ORPHANS- boxes and instructions that need loose carts to make them complete. So far I have many Saturn, SMS and Gen lined up. Bring your lists! I buy/trade orphans although it takes me time to look them up as to what I need in my collection, but I'd really like to sell these spares off! I was going to go with $1 per piece with a graded decrease in price up to 20 for $10 to encourage buying more stuff.

Any system setup requests? I'm going to go through my Nintendo stuff this week.

Should I bring a Vectrex to sell? Any hardware or systems anyone's looking for in particular? I've brought 2600 sets in the past but they haven't sold.

I have tons of 2600 import stuff, but those don't seem to garner too much interest at MWC...

And consider haggling.

I will be in contact with people before the show on Friday night. I don't know my room number yet but I will be calling Perkar and Dave verifying things.

Dave : I'll help you setup Friday afternoon/night if you like. I should be there by 2pm, just look for the blue evo.

If people want to PM me their cell numbers I will txt you the time/etc Friday, granted both nights will be party time. I'm guessing Saturday may be the more entertaining night.

Looking to be me, the woman, and a friend of mine hanging out on Saturday. Dunno if she'll be interested in staying for the evening's activities, but perhaps we could make a trip home and back later on...anyone happen to have some free floor space in a room if we do? Or do they frown on that sort of thing? It ain't in my budget to get a room unfortunetly.

I'll be seeing Dave for sure on the sales floor Saturday so I'll talk to him about it I suppose.

it was my 1st time attending it and i had a blast. it was fun listening to sushi-x and trickman terry reminisce about the EGM glory days.

They were good, but I think Walter Day had the best presentation. I mean, he compared his job of judging video game rivalries to mediating conflict in the middle east! And he asked for a round of applause for himself... How do you beat that!? :hmm:

Really? I thought saturday was busy as hell too. I spent most my time with DreamTR and The Brown Eye.

I'm really glad I went, it was a pretty big show imo. Lots of pinball, and the museum was big. Mostly a system history museum and a "try this system out type of thing."

I really didn't see any super rare games or anything in the show, but there were some deals on some mid-tier stuff, you don't really see anywhere. It was surprised how many names were at the show.

ianoid
03-31-2008, 11:21 AM
Awesome show. Bought alot. Met alot of folks, although connecting names and faces will be super hard for me given my intrinsic deficiencies. Good to meet you all!

I sold a ton. I look forward to next year. I'd consider hitting another show as a vendor sooner if someone can recommend one as being as busy as MWC. I bought more than I thought, volume wise, no thanks to DreamTR.

Attendance was up, and I think there was a corresponding increase in my sales. MWC is a great place to get a table and sell off your spares. Thanks GoatDan and the MWC for a great show!

Someone already has a gallery up, looks like it was taken early Saturday -

http://usergallery.myhomegameroom.com/gallery/MGC-Saturday-3-29-2008?page=1

As far as the person who mentioned he didn't see a lot of people, I'm assuming he meant he didn't run in to many DP people. Saturday was just completely mobbed, had as much attendance that day as both days last year (which was 1700 officially, 2200 unofficially since we don't officially count the free 12 and under kids in the attendance count). Sunday was also a steady flow until closing, I'm used to being able to start breaking some stuff in the museum down by 4pm and I had to keep it going until a bit after 5.

Coin-op count: 70 pins, 31 video.

I'd say Walter's talk on King of Kong and TG in general was the most well attended, standing room only.

Got to meet John and Sean in person finally (John flew in the last minute to help Sean at his booth).

Finally got to pay off Ianoid for that SX-64 after the paypal fiasco 2 years ago, so that monkey's off my back. ;)

But I am just physically beat. I could use another week for a vacation.

DreamTR
03-31-2008, 12:48 PM
MWC: 100% Amazing. Numbers were better than CGE, and they are not inflated like the VGXPO numbers. Busy all the time, lots of stuff to do. Excellent marketing and promotion, perfect for vendors and deal hunters. Looking forward to it again next year!

The only thing the show really needs is an auction for uber rare stuff and promotional items...

Oh yeah the ROOM reservation. They totally screwed me on my room I reserved in January, I did not end up getting a two room suite with a wet bar. Oh no, I got a ONE room with a hottub, like a 2 person one.

So I had to argue with the front desk, ended up getting two ajoining rooms yet again. Took apart the beds and added a couch, made it like a suite.

Sorry to the people I didn't contact, I couldn't get the internet to work well enough to get all the numbers I needed.

next year i'm bringing some wireless repeaters. The internet situation was rediculous.

Apparently they told Jon "thanks for not trashing the place" when he checked out. That's pretty awesome.

And gee, i wonder who might have taken the couch... Was it the little old ladies there for the church retreat, or might it have been the room full of 20 gamers cranking out Rock Band... The world will never know.
