What would a new in box Playstation 2 hard drive set be worth these days? I found one the other day during my out of town outing and will be back through those parts soon and might pick it up then if its worth anything.

I got mine for $30 at Wal-Mart brand new last year. I imagaine now they are probably worth less than that. Since it only had one main purpose on the PS2(playing FF11), they aren't very desirable to people other than Final Fantasy collectors. I'm going to sell mine on ebay soon.

Well that also depends. They might have value to Modders. If you do remember we do have such a thing as HDD loader. Then again. You may be right because you can always purchase another HD in place of the Sony one. The only upside of the Sony is that it's guaranteed to work.

I'd get it if you have Street fighter alpha anthology...installing the game makes the load times practically disappear.

FYI, you can't sell a used copy of FFXI. Well, you can... but the buyer won't be able to play it. The activation code is locked to the console's motherboard. Once activated, it can't be transfered to another console.

You can't sell it though you can always take it to a pawn shop where they don't know better. There is like 3 or 4 copies of the game in one the shops in my town.

I was thinking the HDD loader would be the main purpose of somebody who wants to use the hard drive. The best part about getting the Sony HD rather than some other one is that it fits your PS2 and always will work. I personally have no use for it so if it were me, I would pass it up.

So I guess it would serve modders and Final Fantasy 11 fans well. But the majority of the rest of us could probably care less.

not too long ago i saw two FF11/HDD combo boxes at best buy for 70$ each. i thought that was too high. maybe i should go back?
wouldnt the HDD be good for people that have tons of game saves? 8MB memory cards dont really hold much.

That's like $60 too much... no, really it is. I've seen them new for $12, stores can't get rid of them and they take up a lot of space.
