Video Game Summit Registration Announced

Chicago, Illinois – (December 31st, 2007) – Remember how much fun you used to have playing
Atari, Nintendo and all kinds of games on your computer? Well, you will have the rare
opportunity to play these great games again at the Video Game Summit, a video game and
computer trade show. In fact, several dealers in retro games will be on hand offering games,
controllers, systems and memorabilia and will be prepared to buy or trade for the games you
have held onto since you were a kid. Who knows, you might just have an Atari cartridge worth
$1000 or more collecting dust in your attic.

“Retrogaming,” the playing and collecting of vintage video and computer games, is more
popular than ever. In fact, a dedicated group of programmers still issues new games for game
systems, such as the Atari 2600, last seen in retail stores over fifteen years ago.

The Video Game Summit, now in its fifth year, brings together retrogamers from all over the
country to swap stories, games and to compete in sanctioned tournaments. The event is open to
the public and people of all ages with an interest in video games or computers are encouraged to
attend. According to the event’s organizer, Dan Iacovelli, “we plan to have several gaming
consoles set to free play and a trade room where collectors will be free to swap their extra
games.” Best of all, admission is free!

The Video Game Summit is held on July 12th, 2008 and will run from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
and will be held in the Heron Point Building adjacent to the Fairfield Inn
located at 645 West North Avenue in Lombard, Illinois.
Registration is open now at http://avc.atari-users.net/Events/VGS_files/register.html.

I posted the bellow quote in the VGS yahoo group, looking for people to help at the show or bring in tv's/monitors,or extra systems or games:

We are still looking for people are interested in helping out at the show. here is what we are looking for:
Sponsorship committee: help contacting potential sponsors(and or vendors*
Raffle/Tournament committee: basically help with the raffles and tourneys**
General Help:these are people who will be working with main committee members listed above(also will help with greeting people at main table)

*the main person on Sponsorship committee will have partial access to the eventbrite page
which is sending out the e-mail e-vites from there as receive notices from attendees and view the invoices(and help manage the orders)

** people on this committee have the following jobs:
decide what prize(s) go to either the raffle or tourney
organize the time table for the tourneys(the raffles are going be schedule by me which are usually about every 2 hours)
and keep track of the winners and report them to me or who ever is working the main table when I'm busy)

(currently we have Paul Zimmerman heading up the Tournament part of the comititee
(we need somebody to do head up the Raffle part) and we have new commer John Racanelli
taking over the Press Releases for me(he did the second one announcing the registration and I just redid the game show press release in his format)
We are also looking for people who can help us by bringing a few tvs/monitors for the tournaments and or free play.(I can bring my 12 incher but thats it)(extra systems or games
will also be nice).
In exchange for helping us out AVC will give you the following:

1 free item from AVC News Stand at cafepress.com
reinburstment on your lunch(one plate of pizza(which is going be cut in the sections instead of slices) and can of pop or bottled walter)
free entree in the raffle/game show or pay tournament
(like all the vendors and exhibitors: you will recieve a cafepress edition of the 2008 program and a name tag/button this is comp is already set up)

In the tradition that started at CGE and continued into MGC:
AVC Online proudly follows the tradition by not only having an after the show gathering but as well as
having Pre-show gathering.
the Original plan was to have just an after show gathering at Nickel City arcade in Northbrook,IL
but Todd Rogers from Twin Galaxies has to leave right after the show, so we moved it to Friday july 11th
but we also going to have an after the show gathering at Safari Land in Villa Park,IL.
The full details are still sketchy, but for now we would just like head count of those who are coming to the show as well as the gatherings
