I wonder if NAVA's founder Mike Etler ever expected this event to run as long as it has, with the same basic tradition from which it was founded. Here we are, at the brink of another year of gatherings with lots of competition, trading, and chatter.

If you missed the December gathering you can catch up with us here:
http://www.digitpress.com/images/store

January marks the two year anniversary of NAVA at the DP store, though the event is well into its 12th year since its inception at the legendary Video Game Connections shop in Howell, NJ. As part of this anniversary bash, we will be giving away a bunch of prizes including a brand new XBox 360 Premium system, a "like new" in the box Wii system, and a great big pile of games as we clear some space for 2008 inventory and welcome back our local gamers for another year.

Bring your game face. You don't want to miss this one.

When: Saturday, January 26th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes!

See ya there.

*IF* the weather is clear, we should be there, bitching about gas prices the whole way down and back :) I can't believe it's been TWO YEARS since I've been to NAVA! I went to the first one at the store, and I guess that was it!

After seeing so many pictures of me standing in profile on the site, I decided it was time for a serious diet/workout regiment (good thing I got a new weight set for XMas) ... I need to shed about 40-50 lbs by the end of the year. Seriously.

But, never fear, Lissette and I shall continue to bake sweet treats and bring copious amounts of snacking chips and drinks to meetings. (You'll just probably see me partaking in less or none.)

(Well, maybe I'll have one or two of those UTZ cheeze balls...damn those things are great.)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I got the day off, I am heading UP baby, finally! I have to get my shit together first so's I can bring lots of trade/sale stuff. I know I have a working Inty with a boxed Intellivoice and about 15 boxed games, a boxed Odyssey 300? It's pong-like, but I have to test it out, I don't think I ever did. I will bring some Atari pong stuff as well (I know everyone is into some hardcore Pong, meh). I also have the stinkiest Odyssey 2 in existence with some extremely stinky games. There's no goo on it, but it smells really bad. I may try to clean it up if I can get it to work. I will have other odds and ends too. I'm glad that Frankie has taken up the baked goods crusade as well. Can't wait to see everyone, yay Nava!

I'm also going to need directions to White Castle.

I would absolutely love to see a Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band tournament.

Especially in the case of Rock Band - multiple full bands competing for the highest score!

fergojisan

I played Guitar Hero at Joe's once, and I thought my being able to play guitar in real life would transfer to kicking ass at Guitar Hero. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. I'm game though, and I'm curious to see how Rock Band works. I don't play enough at Nava, I need to correct that (I was castigated at a long-ago Nava for playing Human Cannonball, so apparently I have emotional issues). :P

I'm really looking forward to this.

We're brainstorming the methods of giving away the prizes. I don't want it to be too easy, nor do I want any particular person to have a significant advantage. That kills the "random drawing" and the "Atari 2600 Tournament" options. I may have a very unique game and/or trivia involved.

Final reminder (from me, anyway). You do not want to miss this one. Lots of giveaways - the tournaments will be held at 6pm and 9pm respectively - also Rock Band! Atari 2600 amd NES will have huge influences on the day, and what looks to be a huge turnout (as is usual for January NAVA)... so if you're "on the fence" I can only tell you that you're gonna regret it if you miss it, so just don't.

To those planning to attend: prepare for a gaming party the likes of which you should EXPECT to start your new year!

I think we're already pretty well covered in snacks this time around. I always provide pizza around 6pm. As for beverages that's up to you - I do find that we're sometimes short on plain ol' cola. Plain ol' beer never goes to waste either.

Dude, most of all I'm counting on you for the DP SUPER GROUP in Rock Band. Between you and Jaime on vocals I think the NAVA team can safely take on any local group. Sadly, computer issues this week have limited my learning of the drums so at best I'm a decent backup "normal" guitar or "easy" drum guy.
