Joystiq notes that a game based on the excellent Iron Chef television show on the Food Network is apparently in the works. Apparently, because the game was listed and then pulled within the last few weeks. "The game appears to be on the brink of an announcement, with a listing appearing and disappearing on Gamestop's website for DS and Wii versions of the game, and Siliconera's Spencer Yip indicating that an IC game was being created at Destineer. (Yes, that Destineer). We're already sharpening our knives in anticipation, but we have to ask: [how do we get] Alton Brown in the game?" Their post includes a great animated spot for the show.Read more of this story (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/01/07/1730239&from=rss) at Slashdot.

I'm sorry, but I can't get excited unless it involves the original Kitchen Stadium, Cast, and Chairman Kaga.

If memory serves me right, that was the finest version of the show...

I agree 100% with this sentiment. If it's based on Iron Chef America, I'm going to have to pass just on principle.

The news of this game playfully dances on my tongue, hitting every taste bud with each step...

The presentation, on the other hand, is both underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. My eyes didn't know where to rest, and that's never a good thing. I would have like to have seen more focus, yet fun plating.

Not your best game, but not your worst, either. I thoroughly enjoyed myself playing it, and would go back for seconds.

It should be based on the Japanese show BUT also have Alton Brown in it anyway. They have him announce because if he competed he'd win every episode.

First of all, this is awesome news. If this game can top Cooking Mama I will be thrilled. That said, I agree with those of that you vastly prefer the original IC to the current itteration, but I'll probably buy the game when it comes out regardless. I've got the Saturn Iron Chef already and Cooking Mama; I need more cooking games! The competitive element will be nice and hopefully a lot more flexibility in what dishes can be made.

I want Chairman Shatner as an unlockable.

I'm sure the Japanese version will be based on the Japanese show, as it was a monster hit over there.

The US version might be re-tweaked to have the "chairman's nephew" and Alton in there instead, with the US chefs.

If you want the Japanese version, just import. I GUARANTEE you that if this game sees the light of day in Japan it will include all the original Japanese-version chefs, as they're all pretty big celebrities over there.

I've been expecting this game for awhile, I'm glad to hear that it might actually happen.

That was one of my first thoughts on reading this news. LOL

Maybe the Iron Chef game will be canceled like the Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting game for the Wii:

I was actually looking forward to it.

I can picture a buffed up version of Cooking Mama, with more hilarity. This could be interesting while drunk with a wiimote.

This would have been worth it only if it was based on "Iron Chef" show from Futurama.
