Does Gamestop's CD repair liquid work?

I bought a small packet with two cloths today at Gamestop to see if that would be enough to fix the copies of Soul Blade and Tekken 1 I got the other day (they skip). I don't have access to any store that does DVD/CD resurfacing, so.

I was just wondering if these things actually work. I tried searching here but the search engine restricts small word queries, so that wasn't much help.

I'd recommend being wary of that stuff. Maybe it works but I'd be a bit cautious and use it on some shit disc first to see. Those "do it yourself" Game Doctors don't work at all so I'd be careful with this too. Burn a CD with some music, scratch it up on purpose, and then try the stuff to see how it performs before using it on a real game.

It actually seems to work fairly well. It's brought back a few discs that were damaged.

The stuff works so long as it's not *gouges*

Basically, the solution does 1 thing:

1. It doesn't fill in the cracks per say, but basically makes the disc so shiny the laser reads through it.

Having it used it...*A lot* both personal and professionally, here's the main tips to know:

1. Draw your finger gently across the scratches - if you *can't* feel a severe difference in texture, the polish will work.

2. Literally 3 or 4 very small dabs will do you. Wipe like you would wax acar, in circles while going in a circle around the disc.

3. Rub gently - a dry piece of the solution could ironically scratch the disc.

I used the stuff to bring back about 35 CDs for the PSX charity auction I did, and I use it all the time at work.

The stuff you get with the disc doctor is just distilled water (matter of fact, it says so on the label). The stuff you get from gamestop is some sort of paraffin wax.
