Anybody else have problems with the Logitech wireless PS2 controllers? The more modern ones, not the gigantic ones they used to make.

I've had three so far and they all get X buttons that become completely sticky to the point they can't possibly be used in anything that required timing or quick presses.

Is this a known problem? Is there an easy fix for it?

I had the same problem a year ago. I took the controller apart and cleaned the buttons and contacts with isopropyl alcohol. Haven't had a problem since.

Yup, I've had this problem too, as have friends of mine. It seems Logitech's reputation for quality has taken a big hit in recent years given my own experiences and those of others I have been privy too, such as those in this thread. I wonder whether these issues are isolated to their console products or if they extend to their PC products as well. In fact, how are the current Logitech controllers in terms of quality?

I've gone through 3 or 4 of the ps2 wireless logitech controllers. The buttons do stick after a while, and I've also had problems with the digital pad wearing out and the analog sticks wearing. I opened them up and it seems the internal plastics wear pretty badly, and over time they won't return to center.

Don't know if it is the problem you have, but I almost bought some from a guy who said he'd filed a side (the bottom) of some of the buttons so that they wouldn't stick any more. Cleaning wouldn't fix that, so if cleaning doesn't work, maybe that's an option.

Ok I tried that and it didn't fix the problem...

The sides of the X button, and it's shaft, were covered in GUNK. Really nasty. Cleaned that off and apparently that's NOT the problem.

The actual problem seems to be the underlying blue rubbery thing that's attached to the circuit board itself. The center divot will depress, but frequently will not "pop" back up. Even with no resistance, this is noticeable, so I imagine that it's even more pronounced when the popping motion actually has to push the entire button assembly back up as well.

I tried cleaning the blue thing out with the rubbing alcohol as well and it didn't improve anything.

My only ideas now are to either:
a) Remove the blue thing (somehow, it seems attached pretty strongly) and rotate it, making either square or triangle the sticky button
b) Try something else to clean or repair the blue part. Maybe a lubricant like WD-40 would help it spring back?
c) See if anyone on the boards wants to take a crack at them
d) Take them out to a field with a baseball bat and seeing how far I can smack the damn things.

Put seran wrap over the controller when "playing" cho aniki. Should keep that from happening in the future.

Hey, I would like to suggest that the next time you have an issue w/your [LOGITECH] controller, try calling Logitech Customer Support (646) 454-3200. I experienced the very same thing as you and many others w/my controller. I 1st tried cleaning it. Then, when that didn't fix the problem, I called GameStop to see if I could get a replacement. Unfortunately I could not find my receipt.
Then I called Logitech. I explained the issue that I was having w/my controller. And [within] a few minutes I was told that a new controller would be arriving withing 5-7 business days.
So, my friend; before you go blasting your controller into oblivion, CALL LOGITECH. Problem solved.
Hope that this is a fast enough fix for you?!?! :rocker:...{peace!}

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing a few months ago. I had Xbox Wireless Precision controller with the exact same problem as Fantasia's PS2 Logitech. The A button would constantly stick. Took the rubber button pad out and cleaned the contacts like mad but that didn't do anything.

Called Logitech and they said they'd replace it because it was less than a year old. I went thru A LOT of bullshit with Logitech during the whole process though. After 5 calls and about $10 in long distance fees (WTF, no toll-free number??), I finally got a replacement shipped out to me. They wouldn't let me email them a scan of the receipt though. It had to be FAXED in instead which made no sense whatsoever and cost me another $1 and a trip to Kinkos.
