I'm going to be in Manhattan next week. Are there are any classic game hotspots, i.e. places I should check out to pick up some carts and such? I'm guessing there's a place or two down near the village but I have no idea where.

You should definitely check out Game Express, they are located at 33rd Street between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue right next to Madison Square Garden, also multimedia 1.0 is an ok spot with lots of cool retro stuff but you're gonna pay for it, they are located at the beginning of Saint Marks Place in the villlage, you'll find tons of EBs and Gamestops just by walking through the city, but I would really try to get to Game Express, I hope you enjoy your stay :)

I've just recently discovered MultiMedia 1.0. I believe its @ 18 St. Marks, not too far from Washington Square Park. They have a nice selection of classisc stuff.
Game Express is pretty cool, too. Its near MSG...on 32nd St, I believe.

While you are in the area of St. Marks, walk to the corner of Broadway and West 8th St. You should be able to see a Gamestop or EB or something from there. Keep walking downtown 3 blocks until you reach the Tower Records. Across the street from it is another game shop.
If you get out to Long Island (Valley Stream) you can do some shopping in my garage. :)
