The orange box is pretty much 3 games of the year in one (or 5 if you count the goty from years past)

portal, half-life ep 2, and tf2 by themselves are better than everythign else put out last year

Oh you've got to be kidding me!!!!

Bioshock and COD4 were both vastly superior than Mario Galaxy.

Even Ratchet & Clank Future: TOD was a better platformer than SMG. I'm sorry.

Worst choice ever.

The 15 random FPS games were bound to cancel each other out, and Ratchet didn't even get a nomination. Hard for it to be up for the running when noone raised their voice and said "Hey, consider this game"

If I wasn't too late to vote, I'd have gone for Zack & Wiki - original and completely awesome. Personally, my favorite game of 2007 was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Everything about that game was top notch - the balance, the pace, the controls, the graphics and art, the audio... it had me sucked in from beginning to end. I *like* SMG, but it hasn't drawn me in that much. Bioshock is cool, but I quit playing after a while and haven't gone back. I love the original setting, but the gameplay feels a little... I don't know... dull. Too much "die, reload, try again" ruins the pace and pulled me out of the immersion. It's really well done, though, and that'd be my 2nd choice of what's up there even though I haven't gotten through it yet.

Oh... poopy. Seems I've arrived a little late to the party, but the game I would have voted for won anyway. Hooray for UR MR GAY! :D

Remember that only 89 people voted out of 1,500 "active" forum users and for all anyone knows maybe somebody voted a few times to bump little Mario. Lots of people don't even touch FPS games so platform and RPG's usually out number even the best FPS.

You can only vote once. Unless you have a bunch of alts or something. I doubt anyone found it necessary to go through the trouble. Unless they're preparing for April 1st. :p

This poll had the most voters and compared to some Otto polls way way more which tells me that for the most part the others polls were quite meaningless in this format. Next year should be a simple Otto "show" with 4-5 polls and then maybe more would take the time to vote.

It's easy to make a second or third account and some people have old alt accounts with stupid names already in place but I doubt anyone really did vote twice.

You got me good. For a second, I thought you were serious!

I agree this site is classic in nature which means that the majority of the people here will vote for a classic name like Mario. Mario was a great game but nothing about it seemed to push the envelop for me. Its a been there done that kind of game. Same with COD4 and many of the other games.

I voted for Bioshock b/c it had unique features in my opinion to the other games and the storyline was top notch even still it wasn't that great of a game to make me say it was one of the best ever.

Games have become vicitm to the following the same trends that movies do these days. Just rinse and repeat the formula that has made them millions. They HARDLY ever try much in the way of something new.

Just my rant
