It's been awhile ago now but I had a variable AC adaptor for my VCS and one day the voltage was set higher than it needed to, and really I'm unsure why it was changed. My system didn't turn on and was shortly followed by a pop. Instantly I knew the adaptor was to blame and just put it off to the side. So really the question is can it be repaired and possibly how much? It's a CX-2600A.

Did you see any smoke?

How high does your AC adapter go? All the ones I've seen max out at 12V, which the VCS should handle.

I can't find the adaptor at the moment but I know it maxes at 12V. I didn't see any smoke but it had a burn smell after the pop.

I currently don't have any batteries for my digital camera but if getting a closer and higher resolution picture of a certain section of the board is needed let me know.
