More and more artists and labels are jumping on board the Guitar Hero and Rock Band phenomenon... I'm a huge Radiohead fan, so I was delighted to find their music in Rock Band. Ditto for Dragonforce and Eric Johnson.
I'm happy with the content in both games, but like a typical, coddled American consumer, I want more. I've been listening to my music differently lately, hearing it through the filter of note tracking and plastic guitars. I want Tool. I want Alice in Chains. I want Michael Hedges. I want At The Drive in and the Mars Volta. I think you get the drift.
What are your most desired bands/songs/albums? I suppose they'd have to be in the realm of Rock/Punk/Funk, but otherwise anything goes.
As a closer, I'd love to see more Faith No More as DLC; they're one of the most underrated bands of the last twenty years. I think the song "A Small Victory" in particular would be my choice....With "Surprise! You're Dead!" as a runner up.

It has to be the one and only Status Quo. :D Surprised some of their songs aren't already in there, actually.

Couldn't agree more. Faith No More would be perfect. Anything with Mike Patton would be an instant purchase for me.

Van Halen, I mean come on it's got great guitar licks, decent drumming and great singing for range.

Harmonix put Papa Roach into Amplitude, they should put some more Papa Roach into Rock Band.
Heck Neversoft put Papa Roach into Tony Hawk 2, they should put some more Papa Roach into GH3.

Personally, I'd be happy with more tracks by some of the same artists that have been featured already.
In addition however, I'd be happy if the following artists were made available:
Eric Clapton/Blind Faith/Cream/Derek and the Dominoes
Styx
Journey
Foreigner
With these guys added, I'd be more than happy.

Wah?? Really? Which one? I'd kill to see some Smiths in GH or RB. The guitar parts in most Smiths songs are really complex, so it'd be a good candidate. But yeah, it'll never happen.
Some 80's Manchester rock would be great though. Like some Happy Mondays or Joy Division. I'd love to see some Bernard Butler-era Suede tracks too.

Two artists I would like to see on Guitar Hero:
DEVO and They Might Be Giants
My life will be complete when I play a TMBG song on Guitar Hero.

The Beatles would be great, but that would never happen.
I only know a few Rush songs, but they'd be fun to play. Primus, too.
A "classic Nintendo music" pack would be a great exclusive for the Wii version. I'd definitely enjoy playing along with remixed music from the Super Mario series, The Legend of Zelda series, Metroid, Star Fox, etc.

SRV and George Thorogood would be nice. I agree with Led Zepplin. Also Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Metallica (Black album and back only pls - Master of Puppets is mandatory!) and the song Hocus Pocus (don't know who did that one). On a darker note, some Type O Negative would be cool, Black Number 1 could qualify for an entry level tune I guess. :) I'd say Jethro Tull, but I'm sure they are saving their stuff for Flute Hero. Like Don't Fear the Reaper for Cowbell Hero. LOL

the song Hocus Pocus (don't know who did that one)
"Hocus Pocus" is a 1971 song by the Dutch rock group Focus. My friends and I used to play that in our very first rock band in high school.

Holy shit. I just checked recent DLC for Rock Band. That's excellent, they got more Stone Temple Pilots. Interstate Love Song ftw.
As for more bands? I can't wait for Nirvana's Nevermind album DLC to come out. That's gonna be sweet. Also, I'm not gonna lie; I'd love to see Blink 182 (although it is very unlikely due to the whole +44/Angels and Airwaves thing), but seriously, those songs are so catchy. I'd love to play Dammit.

I'd like more Nine Inch Nails, I think. Specifically the songs 'Wish', 'Last' and 'Burn'. 'The hand that feeds' is not only a weird choice for Rock Band, but also a mediocre song.
Clutch would be a blast, too.
I'd love to see some more "crazy" songs on Guitar Hero 3, and if they were to release a DLC pack by bands like Dream Theater I'd be all over it! Some Blur and some Led Zeppelin would also be awesome.

I want Kreator, dammit. I also want more Megadeth songs, like Trust. Others could be:
Opeth - When (9 min long, lawl)
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Iron Maiden - 2 Minutes To Midnight
Destruction - Thrash 'Till Death
Dead Kennedys - California Über Alles (maybe this one was in a previous GH...not sure)
Children of Bodom - Are you Dead Yet?
At The Gates - Cold
Amon Amarth - Pursuit of Vikings
Yeah!

- Green Day
They seem like a no-brainier considering that their audience skews through the tweens, teens, young adults, and thirty-somethings, but they're probably the most expensive to license / reluctant to allow their catalog to be licensed.
- Iron Maiden
My favorite metal band. I'm really glad that we've gotten one song in GH II, one in GH III and two in Rock Band, but I'd like to see more.
- They Might Be Giants
While they're transcendent of any specific "genre", they're NOT a novelty act, and they're definitely a "ROCK" band, that has more than enough full-band guitar/drums/bass rock songs that could fit into Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
- Dethklok
With the continued success of Brendon Small's Adult Swim cartoon about the most popular band in the world - why not capitalize and make some more of their 2-CD album available for download and play. They could even make downloadable versions of the band-members or unlockable hairstyles or clothes available in Rock Band that would allow users to make their favorite members of the band.
- The White Stripes
Well, they don't use a bassist for a majority of their songs, but there are a few great rock tracks (Fell In Love With a Girl, Seven Nation Army) that would fit into either game even if a bass track would need to be "faked" for Rock Band.
- Elvis Costello
They need some fucking Costello. Period. 'Nuff said.

A few artists / songs I'd like to see (and if they've been in the game, well...I want more):
Neil Young esp. Rockin' In The Free World or Like A Hurricane
Prince - Let's Go Crazy, Little Red Corvette, Gett Off
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run, Badlands, Radio Nowhere
ELO - Do Ya
Kansas - I don't care what, I just want more Kansas!

I think anything by Can (especially something from Tago Mago) would be brilliant for Rock Band. I know you'd definitely have your work cut out for you if you're doing drums.
Some Sunn O))) would be fun for the goof factor (for those who don't know, imagine 20 minute songs with about one guitar riff every 10 seconds)

Yeah... I hadn't thought of that.
Oh Well.
I'd love to see some Motley Crue or Cinderella. It would also be awesome to the core to have Warrant's Cherry Pie in there.

You rock, dude. I own Back One for the sole purpose of scarring annoying people out of my house.
And I'd love to do the Drums and vocals from "Oh Yea!" and "Hallelujuah" I already can, in fact.
My contribution would be to see the entirety of My Bloody Valentine's Loveless album on there. Just to confuse people.

Holy crap...
...they're going to release a MONKEES song (Last Train to Clarksville) THIS WEEK as DLC for Rock Band?
GENIUS!!!!!!!!
I need to go buy an afro wig so I can pretend to be Mickey Dolenz when I'm playing the drums and/or singing...
...or a wool cap with a puff on the top if I'm playing guitar...OR I can ask my mom to invent "liquid paper" so I can inherit millions and pretend to be Mike Nesmith while I'm playing guitar.

Was (Not Was) - Walk The Dinosaur.
Yes, it's a silly song from the 80's, but it's got everything a Rock Band song must have - great lyrics, good guitar / bass riffs, and a strong drum presence.
And it's got the whole "performed best while being drunk as hell" factor going for it, too.

Being that the Smiths are my favorite band, obviously I would like to see this. Some solo Morrissey would be great also. Think of the guitar in "I Don't Mind if You Forget Me". That would definitely take some people out. Some other Manchester or other various britpop would be great too. Joy Division "She's Lost Control" for the drums. 24 Hour Party People by Happy Mondays would be so fun too. My Bloody Valentine would be a funny choice and I'd also love to see a Slowdive song on there. Having the Stone Roses as a bonus track on Guitar Hero 3 was kinda rad, but how are they going to put it as a bonus track and not a featured one while having the worst laughable crap ever like slipknot or disturbed as a featured songs? I could go on and on with more obscure stuff i'd like to see, but there's no way it'd ever show up on there.
Also, early prince. Tons of early prince. I know, I know, but I Wanna Be Your Lover and When You Were Mine are some of the best songs ever. You must disregard the later crap.
Some of the people in this thread surprised me. Most people into video games have baaaaaddddd taste in music. Some of you know what's up though!

Songs by A Flock of Seagulls: Anything from their "Best of" CD (Except for "Story of a young heart" because it is a remix of some of their songs)
Songs by The B-52's: Anything from their first album and Love Shack
Silver by Nirvana
Songs from the Jet Grind Radio soundtrack: Bout the town/city by Reps and Magical girl by Guitar vader
I could think of more songs but I'd rather not right now.

More Soundgarden (Rusty Cage, Fell on Black Days)
More Stone Temple Pilots (Sex Type Thing, Wicked Garden, Plush)
More Alice in Chains (Would?, Man in the Box, We Die Young)
More Helmet (Milquetoast, Rollo, Exactly What You Wanted)
More Rage Against the Machine (Bombtrack, Freedom, People of the Sun)
More Foo Fighters (Hey Johnny Park!, My Hero, Big Me)
More Pearl Jam (State of Love and Trust, Yellow Ledbetter, Once)
More Nirvana (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Polly)
More Dragonforce (Operation Ground and Pound)
More Rush (Subdivisons, Red Barchetta, The Spirit of the Radio)
Stuff that's not been in a game yet:
Mudhoney (What moves the Heart?, Execution Style)
311 (especially in Rock Band) (use of Time, Down, Freak Out)
Pink Floyd (Money, Pigs (3 Different Ones), Wish You Were Here)
Led Zeppelin (Houses of the Holy, Kashmir, Stairway)
Candlebox (Understanding, You, Far Behind)
Live (White Discussion, Iris, Lakini's Juice)
Thrice (Stare at the Sun, The Beltsville Crucible, Digital Sea)
Incubus (Pardon Me, Idiot Box, A Different Shade of Green)
Coheed & Cambria (Welcome Home, No World for Tomorrow, Gravemakers & Gunslingers)
Tool (H., Prison Sex, AEnima)
I'm sure I could think of more.

Love this tread topic.
As for Rock Band DLC, there is a definite need for more female singers. I'm sure most men that play with their wives or girlfriends hear this complaint.
I'd love to see some of the following
Liz Phair.... Supernova, Never Said, 6'1", Stratford-on-guy
The Bangles.. In your Room, Hazy Shade of Winter
Go Gos...... Vacation, Our lips are sealed
Breeders... Cannonball
Cranberries...Zombie...etc.
Also, please get some Pink Floyd in one of these games... preferably these songs
Sorrow, Time, comfortably numb

I agree that Rock Band needs more female singers and would totally download The Bangles and some Go-Gos! I have read soooo many "I want blah blah blah in Rock Band" and most mention groups I LOATHE (I, for one, have always despised Pearl Jam and Led Zeppelin) and others are just ignorant like "The Monkees? ewww, they're like fake and stuff". Some people need to understand there are LOTS of types of rock out there, and whether I personally like Blink 182 or not, at least it IS there if you DO want it and thats what I think is great so far....
In MY list, though, I'd love some GnR, Van Halen, Green Day, Pantera, more Metallica, The Bangles, the Go-Gos, No Doubt, some 80's classics (Motley Crue, Poison, Dokken, Queensryche, etc.). I would have said Oasis, but I saw that Xbox.com accidentally revealed the next two weeks of DLC and next week is 3 Oasis tracks..and they are masters to boot! :)

Here is the rerelease of Rock Lobster (Yes rock lobster was in their first album):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szhJzX0UgDM&feature=related
However, We'd need triple vocals in rock band for any B-52's song.
Oh and here is "'Bout the city" By Reps, Its such an underrated song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7BU0nDK10w&feature=PlayList&p=1A0D27C6C91BCDF9&index=0 (Sorry I keep forgetting how to make links small)
And here is "Magical Girl" By Guitar vader: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYlcMlgbeL4&feature=PlayList&p=1A0D27C6C91BCDF9&index=11 It's a very repetitive song but it fits Jet Grind Radio quite well.

I am in fact very excited at the prospect of playing a Monkees song on Rock Band.

That's me directly to the right of Peter Tork. I believe that was back in 2000.

That would be great! Maybe a Rock Band album download of Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar... Too bad it'll never happen...
FZ songs that might stand a chance in hell of seeing the GH or RB light of day are My Guitar Wants to Kill Yer Mama, Valley Girl, Joes Garage, and the ubiquitous Don't Eat the Yellow Snow(and Nanook Rubs It, of course)...The most mainstream and least offensive stuff. :)
Personally, I'd like Tinseltown Rebellion and Dumb All Over, but the lyrical content of most Frank Zappa songs makes NIN look like the Osmonds.

Freak Out!!! would be pretty 'meh', actually... I just gave it a listen and the overall structure of most of the songs is WAAY too experimental and weird for something like Rock Band or GH. I can't imagine trying to play 'Help I'm A Rock' in either game. :)
We're Only In It For The Money has a few select tracks that would be fun, but for my money, Zappa really found his groove later on.

Has anybody noticed that the possibility of doing a band quick play online in Rock Band, or a Guitar Battle in GH3 and all required parties actually having purchased ANY downloadable content is like, slim, none, and jack shit?
I don't think I've ever encountered a single person online who has purchased or downloaded any extra content...and DAMN am I sick of playing the basic track-lists online in Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3.
