I've yet to receive issue 9 as well. Paid and received my "give me everything!" back issues, but nothing since issue 8. That was back in December.

How is this magazine? I hadn't heard of it before now, but it sounds like lots of people on this forum like it.

seriously? have you read this thread? or the other one? it's not a bad mag by any means, but the complete lack of reliability make this something to pass on (or just pick up at blockbuster). that's my opinion any way. I don't know of any other mags that cover such a broad range of games, and it does have a price guide (which I've never found to be accurate), so maybe that warrants a purchase for some.

For what it's worth, I missed the free issue, resubscribed, and appear to have gotten the free issue anyway. So while some people certainly appear to be having issues, some of us are getting our copies. And I have heard that they're hoping to start putting in "resubscribe please" cards in the future. Having been the editor for 2600 Connection for a while, I know that tracking subscribers isn't always the easiest thing...

Just sent them a FOURTH and LAST e-mail. They always say they are going to take care of it, then I never hear back. Still no issue #9 for me. This is Completely Retarded!!! Mike : (

I sent Shawn an email several weeks ago and forgot about it because I never received a response. I have still never received #9 and have completely given up on it. When I first requested the free copy, Shawn told me I already had a complimentary subscription and he asked me to once again write for the magazine. At this point I think I'll pass.

I've been trying to get issue 8 for obviously several months now. It was suppose to be my second issue since my subscription started. After repeated emails for the past several months have gone completely unanswered, I'm hoping that I finally get some sort of acknowledment for my remaining 3 issues of my subscription. So now I'm waiting for issue 8, 9 and the unrealeased 10:(

Well I received my Issue #9 with a few extra issue #9s. I will be giving away the extras at my store to local Cleveland, Ohio members. Just mention it when you stop by my store. Mike : )

So that's what happened to my magazine..

It's fairly certain there was some kind of fire in a Dutch mail depot. The first 40 pages have a hole burned in them and the magazine was heavily folded. Still, I was able to read most of it. It's an impressive effort and I loved (naturally) to see my sites mentioned in the 'press' for the first time. Thanks to Michael from Gooddealgames for sending me a copy, guess I'll buy another one soon..

We got screwed. He will never get me again though. What a crappy business man. I mean how hard is it to put everyones name in a file and just mail them the damn mag. But, what really pisses me off, is he sent it to the people who sent IMs and they got it for free. I paid for a year subscription and got nothing.

I agree. It is a great mag. However, do yourself a favor and buy it at a store so you won't get screwed. I do love the mag though.

Are you just looking for a game magazine that has retro games or new ones also. I've been using video game trader, www.videogametrader.com, for retro prices.

I finally got a PM from Shawn back in early March saying he would check in to my subscription status and get back to me. I have not heard back from him since. I have even sent him a few PM's as reminders, yet no response. I thinks since some big accounts like blockbuster have ordered, they dont really care about the single subscription orders. There is no reason why you cant respond to someone when they have given you nearly a year. I inquired about a problem(& question) about my subscription almost a year ago and have not gotten an answer yet. I have gotten an empty promise to take care of it, but no follow up.
Sad, because this type of magazine is great idea.

I have sent him PM's on here and countless emails to his aol adress. And it has been around 6 months with no response. I still have 2 or 3 issues on my subscription and I feel like I'll never get them. And now that I see I'm not the only one that got screwed, I wish there was a way we could all come together to do something about this.

I hadn't heard of that magazine so thanks for the link. I was looking for more content rather than prices. I am biased since I run the site, but I use videogamepricecharts.com (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com) for any pricing stuff I need. I just don't think a magazine can be up-to-date enough.

I will look into the content and articles for this one though. And look to buy VG Collector Magazine off the rack.

If you're looking for content, get Retro Gamer or GamesTM. Retro Gamer is (of course) only retro, but GamesTM has a retro section that's nearly the size of VGC itself!

Edit: I learned my lesson the hard way too after getting screwed out of a subscription to Classic Gamer Magazine. I paid for a subscription and only got one issue before it folded. I was promised a refund but none ever came.

I checked out your site yesterday. Looks good. I would love to use it more, but don't have access to internet on my phone which is the primary time I need a price guide. I'll use it at home though.

The price site is definitely most useful on a cell phone for knowing for sure what games are worth before you buy them. We are actually planning on making a mobile version (hopefully this summer). It wouldn't help you much since you don't have internet on your phone, but I think it would be pretty helpful.

Greetings Everyone!

My name is Aaron Auzins (online tag - "nestlekwik") and I wanted to introduce myself as the new assistant editor for Video Game Collector magazine. I have posted a small amount on this forum and check it out almost every day, so I couldn't help but notice people are having some problems with receiving issues of the magazine. I just jumped on board with the publication toward the end of its preparations for issue #10 and after talking with the publisher over the phone a number of times, I would love to give everyone a big update on what is going on with subscriptions, the next issue and a few other happenings with VGC.

First, and most importantly, the publisher would like to apologize for the delays and missing issues some of you have suffered. I will apologize as well, because, yes - it really stinks when you pay for something and you don't receive it. I understand everyone's feelings on the matter but please know we are working extremely hard to get everything caught up and prevent future problems.

Arriving at issue #10, we're really looking to expand and ease the burden of many tasks placed on one person: The publisher is bringing in three new people to help with the business/customer service side of the magazine, we have a new part time employee dedicated to orders and customer service and we're looking to add another person in this department soon. We have also hired a third-party company to audit our subscription lists and help find and replace missing orders. With these assets, we'll be able to more effectively catch these things before they become a problem. Furthermore, while my role will normally be to work on editorial content and PR, I will also be helping with e-mails and customer service until the new people are trained and up to speed.

One of the biggest problems we have had with our customer releations seems to be e-mails not coming through to us. The publisher has been using the same AOL account for years, but it seems too many e-mails just don't make it through, even as spam. Starting today, for your convenience, we are adding a Gmail account specifically for customer service. If you have any open issues or concerns with your subscription please e-mail us at vgcollector@gmail.com. As I stated earlier, I will be helping out in the area of service, so if you would feel more comfortable sending me a private message on this forum, please feel free to do so.

With the contact information out of the way, we just can't wait another second to unveil some information on the upcoming issue #10, going to press very, very soon. Issue #10 has some new editiorial talent as Bill "The Game Doctor" Kunkel was kind enough to come on board as a guest editor for our giant-sized 10th issue! We'll provide more in-depth detail about the issue's contents in the near future, but Mr. Kunkel has brought some fantastic things to VGC #10, including a "lost chapter" from his book Confessions of the Game Doctor.

Although my work is done on issue #10, you'll be happy to know work is already underway on the features and content of issue #11, which is on track to be published in July. I have spent the last handful of years in similar positions for online gaming sites, so I'm positive you'll be pleased with the content I'm whipping up as we head further into double-digit territory. I'm glad to see those interested in the magazine do read and care about the quality of articles published in VGC and that will fuel our passion for what we do even more. I'm still becoming accquainted with our other writers, but I can't wait to put our heads together and put together a quality publication full of information for everyone.

Last but not least, we would like to let everyone know sample copies of Video Game Collector will be available for free at Too Many Games this weekend, courtesy of Good Deal Games (http://www.gooddealgames.com/) and Rolenta Press (http://www.rolentapress.com/). The show is being held in Reading, Pa., and you can find out more about it at www.toomanygames.com (how cool is the chance to win a free AES with games?) Thanks to Good Deal Games and Rolenta Press, you can receive a free copy of Video Game Collector at either one of their booths.

For everyone who has had issues receiving their VGC issues, myself and the publisher once again apologize a thousand times and we would like to assist you in any way we can. For those who have read and supported us, we can't thank you enough and would like you to know things will only get better and better as we go on. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for future VGC content, don't hesitate to let us know.

Sounds vaguely familiar ...

Below is a list of contents for VGC #9 but first let me just say that I am sorry for the delays. We have moved production to a new printer and are hiring new staff to get and stay caught up in 2008. More details are below but now the contents for the new issue ...

... To improve things going forward I am adding more staff including another designer, bringing on more writers, and opening up a second internship position. Also, I have moved production of VGC from the local printer we've been using to an excellent, state of the art printer that specializes in high quality magazines.

I really do hope VG Collector gets all the kinks ironed out. For the time being though, I'm sticking to picking it up in stores.

nestlekwik

I'm afraid I can't speak for issue #9 since I wasn't on board with the magazine at that time but I'm giving a huge push toward making everything right for everyone and I hope everything does get resolved. We're currently working on methods that will put the magazine in even more stores as we grow, so even if you decide to pick up the publication in-store, we are aiming to make the publication more available for long-time readers and more visible to people who do not know who we are.

By the way, in the short time I was able to talk to the publisher around noon today, he noted he had received two e-mails last night and one this morning. He was able to respond to the two received last night and will be taking a look at the third and any others tonight. If you sent a message either yesterday or today and do not receive a response for another couple of days, by all means, please let me know.

And just like that, everything is ok again. He sent me out issues 8 and 9 and they arrived within three days of him promising to do so. Now I just have to wait to get issues 10 and 11 when they come out.

I strongly recommend you guys to email the new address to try to get all your subscription issues worked out. If it worked for me I'm sure it can work for you too:)

I'll talk to him today and verify he received a message from you. I haven't asked him about any of the e-mails since Friday so I'll be sure to receive an update on the situation. If you could, would you be able to PM me the name the subscription is under or does your e-mail address or message have MachineGex somewhere in it?

We're going to be altering the HTML on the Web sites soon so the contact information reflects the new e-mail address so anyone who has a problem can have easy access to it. I'm really glad you received your issues The 1 2 P. If anyone else is having issues, please let me know.

Me too. I'm really glad your issues were dealt with and I hope you continue to enjoy the magazine. We are expecting a complete issue #10 in the near future and it's going to be packed with some interesting items. Editorial is even already working on issue #11 and I can say first-hand, a lot of the readers who grew up in the '90s arcade era will have a lot to reminesce about when they pick up issue #11. We're looking to maintain a regular schedule from this point forward, with issue #11 making a grand debut in early August to keep up with a quarterly schedule. We must be doing something right here because we already know what we are doing for issue #12. With more people on board, we only anticipate things going smoother from here on out so I appreciate all of the readers who have stuck with us.

And, yes, please, if you are having issues with your subscriptions or receiving copies of VGC Magazine, please e-mail vgcollector@gmail.com or bring the matter to my attention via a PM right here on Digital Press.
