I've got a region-free DUO on the way, and I was wondering what Hu-cards are good that have not been released state-side. I already know about the good CD-games, but I'd like to get into the hu-card scene. I know some good shooters like twinbee, gradius, salamander, parodius, download, final soldier, and heavy unit.
What about platformers? Or are there other good shooters? Also, which download game is the one where it swears at you when you get to the game over screen? I plan on buying both, but I want that one first.

Download 2 is a CD game, IIRC.
I'm no big PCE dude, but there's a ton o shooters. The "Soldier" series is solid.
One of the coolest games i've played on Hu Card is Ninja Spirit...

Ninja Spirit is awesome, but I'm looking at Japan-exclusives. Someone told me that an Arcade Card DUO is a must. So I'll look into that too.

The thread linked to by bust3Dst8 pretty much covers it all. You can't go wrong with Salamander and Out Run.
Bonze Adventure and Tatsujin are two often forgotten killer HuCards, if you want to go for something a little more unusual.

Given how this one get's forgotten easily.
Zipang (Pretty good solomon's key clone and it's even by tecmo)

Irem's Photoboy (that's the English translation; I have no clue what the japanese title is) is a really cool game. It's sort of a cross between Gumshoe and a rail shooter. You take pictures of things to alter them in the playfield. Some of the game is really offensive, and you'll see why it never came to America (like the "ghetto" level, where every one has a "Jim Crow" appearance to them. You see Michael Jackson in that level, though.) If you can handle that, it's a really funny and unique game.
I tried googling it for more info and couldn't come up with much, but the game does exist. Check ebay.
Gekisha Boy is the original name.

It is 99% the same as Solomon's Key, except the first 3-4 levels are different. If anyone ever needs the passcodes for Zipang, I have them all written down somewhere.
Others I recommend:
Momotarou Katsugeki - Very fun platformer
Puzznic
Rock On (Only for the opening story. The game itself sucks.)
