I bought the mag today, but haven't had a chance to open it up. It says that there are three exclusive Rock Band songs on the disc. Anybody know what they are?

not bad, granted the mag had an article on DiY Rockband instrument fixes so it kinda leveled out the 10 dollar price tag.

The OXM disc is just a regular DVD, isn't it? So anyone that wants the tracks should be able to find a torrent of the disc image and burn a working dvd-r. At least that's how the Guitar Hero III demo was I think.

Actually, I thought the OXM discs had playable demo's on them.

Aw man, more Freezepop? Supersprode no less?

I hope they bring that song to the PS3 Rock Band in some way shape or form in the future.

Right, but they're still just regular dvd's that aren't specially formatted for 360 or anything. You should be able to to make copies of them and use them just like retail OXM discs.

Sweet. Freezepop. Definitely gonna have to pick up that magazine. I'll probably subscribe to it on the way.

Does anyone know if that site with free magazine subscriptions still exists?

They're specially formatted, and subject to all the normal copy protection of xbox/360 games.

I could have sworn I've read somewhere that the OXM disc with the Guitar Hero III demo could be copied/burned and be played on a 360 without any modification. The demos were just transfered to the HDD and played from there.

EDIT: Here it is - http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/guitar-hero-iii-demo-disc-online-magically-works-on-any-360/

Aren't all OXM discs like this, or was it special for this GHIII one?

The ability to copy a game is dependent on the publisher. All normal copy protections are still in place.

I tried to copy the GH3 demo and it did not work, I must have wasted 5 DVDs.

Does anyone know how this will work? Is each disc one time use only? Logistically, I would think they would restrict the uses of each disc to one time only, as far as royalties go. The only way I could see that happening though, would be requiring Live in order to get the songs. If you can use a single disc multiple times, I would buy/trade it off someone once they are done with it; I don't want to pay cover price.

I believe that all 3 bands on the disk have members that are a part of Harmonix, so they would be considered bonus songs. I don't think there is any sort of control on how many times the disk is used, so they likely didn't need to license these or got permission to distribute them for free.
