Well, I thought I'd try again and eliminate the GameCube part of this thread.
(there are quite a few GC threads)
Also, I searched for a PSP thread, but it would not let me....

So, are there any truely "rare" PSP games yet?
I'm sure there are some uncommon ones, but rare, I do not know.

Discuss! :)

The Generation of Chaos games seem fairly rare, or at least I seldom see them. The only copy I've ever seen of the second game of the series is the one I own.

I've also discovered Puzzle Quest is difficult to find. I don't think I've ever seen that one in a physical store.

It's not rare, but the original (aka non-GH) variant is very hard to come by. What game am I talking about?

The ever elusive Namco Museum Battle Collection.

both Puzzle Quest and Generation of Chaos I come by frequently. I don't think there are really any games that I've seen or tried looking for that is really rare. Uncommon some games maybe but usually its inevitable I find them. Jewel Summoner actually I don't see too many used copies floating around anymore.

Street Supremacy?

At least, it's not easy to find in a store. Out of the 47 GameStop/EB stores within 50 miles of me, only two stores have it.

Got a feeling this one might be tough to track down later on.

There are no "rare" PSP games. There are titles that are hard to find, but that's mostly subjective. What's uncommon here can be common there.

There very well may be "rare" psp games, sony doesn't have as high a minimum print run for this console.

Plataypus and the limited edition copy of Death Jr. are most likely both rare.

I think that right now, the only truly rare PSP fare is stuff coming out of Japan that comes in "limited edition" sets/packaging.

The US hasn't had much of that thrown our way ... maybe this year with some of the top-tier PSP releases shipping in March.

nothings is rare. even death jr LE i see used at gamestop all the time (btw, other than the foil art, were there any differences?)

genesis collection is difficult to find. as is metal slug collection. ea replay seems to be elusive used, but everywhere as new.

i see jewel summoner all over. nothing is rare, some are simply great games that are in demand so people hold on to them. i think that by todays' standards, a truly 'rare' game is one that cannot be found frequently online -- including ebay. and psp does not have any such games.

tales of eternia and breath of fire 3 are two english imports that are both elusive/uncommon and in high demand. price for these can hit higher digits...

Well the only time I saw it in a store was when I went to Mohegan Sun- there's a cd/dvd/game store inside and they were charging $60 for it new.

Depends on how much it costs and if you're a fan of the movies. As far as boxing games go, it's not bad. It's not as good as Fight Night, but it's not bad. The only real problems with gameplay are the super long load times before a match starts, and that there is a slight delay from time to time when you press the punch buttons.

The game itself is very cool. There's a few modes- historic fights (you play each of the big battles from the movies, all start with a clip from the movie), exhibition (you can pick any fighter from any rocky movie, you have to unlock many fighters though), and some random mode where you have to beat guys under certain circumstances.

If you're looking for a boxing game, I'd rate it maybe 6/10. If you're looking for a boxing game and you liked the Rocky movies, I'd say it's a 7.5/10. If you don't care about boxing games but liked/loved the movies, it's about an 8.8/10.

If you can get it for $20 or less you wont be sorry, but I wouldn't have paid more than $30 for it.

It's not just the foil art, the LE came with some UMD cases, a comic book, and something else. That's the part that makes it rare.

Metal Slug Anthology is rare for certain; it took me a week to hunt down a new copy for less than sixty bucks, even with the help of the internet(it was, of course, totally worth it).

In the end, the usual NIS and Atlus stuff will be rare for certain, and who knows what else. Since PSP software sells so poorly, a lot of stuff could end up 'rare'.

I saw a preview of this game on ign this week comming to PSP.

http://psp.ign.com/articles/845/845704p1.html

I guess its a japanese puzzle game that features people from Steambot Chronicles. Its been out in Japan for a while already but it seems like something that may not catch on very well in the US. A niche game if you will. You can download a demo for the japanese version here:

http://www.psp-vault.com/UpDownload-req-viewdownload-cid-14.psp

I played it for a bit and i think it seems pretty fun, but unless you try it first, I don't really see too many people buying it.

edit: wow, they have a whole shit load of unreadable Japanese demos up on there. But there are english ones also...the site is worth looking at.

the comic book is manual sized right? which means its usually inside the box, no one cares about those that much to take it out and do something with it. the UMD case was not included in the game. it was a promo for either reserving it or from e3 or something, i forget, but it definitely did not come w/ the game (i have the case)

i *thought* it had a slip case, but ive yet to see it anywhere, so i guess i was wrong.

The little case with all the extras was shrinkwrapped to the UMD case, i can assure you it came with the LE. I'll take a picture, it's all part of the set.
