Disappointing Game Delays

I just read that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has be pushed back yet again from Febuary 10th to March 9th. I'm starting to think the game will never come out. Are there any other people upset by this push back, or any other push backs of upcoming games?

A one month delay is nothing. I remember the multiple delays for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Perfect Dark. My friends and I were frustrated and disappointed with each delay, but ultimately, the games were well worth the wait. Hang in there!

MGS4 has seen at least 4 delays versus "announced" release-month/year at various E3's, Tokyo Game Show's, and other major conventions.

I have to say the GTA4 and Mercenaries 2 delays are slowly killing me. On the other hand, the delays just ensure those games will have an extra coat of polish by release. I hope so anyway.

Remember, delayed games are only delayed for so long but a bad game will be bad forever. :) Yeah, the waiting part sucks but in the end it's usually more than worth it.

I'm not as upset about DNF as I used to be. I've long since accepted that it'll be out when it's out and not a minute sooner. I've filled the time loving tons of other games (and being disappointed by tons of other delays), so it's all good.

Plus, it hasn't REALLY been 11 years...with all of the reboots on the project, it's really only been something like ~2-3 years on the current version. I think. Can't find the exact quote offhand and I'm not too motivated to really search because no one cares...everyone is always going to say, "OMG THEY WORKED ON THIS GAME FOR OVER A DECADE, AND IN THAT TIME BLAH BLAH BLAH".

Recently I was bummed about the delay for Half Life 2 Episode 2, which ties into my long bumming over the delay of Team Fortress 2. I'm also bummed that Episode 3 and Episode 4 don't have release dates yet (rumor is 4 is in development from an external studio!)

I'm really bummed over the delay and eventual cancellation of Sin Episodes 2. The first episode was an excellent FPS run and gun, leaps and bounds above the second rate pile of buggy shit that the first Sin game was.

Prey was a biggie, too...when I heard that 3DR was getting Human Head to start the project up again, I got really fucking excited. Loved the end product, btw.

SWAT 4's multiple delays bummed me, but I've heard the end product actually panned out pretty well. A hell of a lot better than the Counter Strike clone that was in work at one point.

I know I'm not the only one that hated seeing Unreal get bumped back further and further. Sure kicked ass when it came out, but that wait was hell. Too bad they never did get the seamless online world / interconnected multi-server levels in there. Reached a bit too far, eh?

Need For Speed: Motor City got delayed over and over again as it morphed into Motor City Online, which wound up kicking ass despite its major limitations (race sizes, fucked up economy). Porsche Unleashed filled the gap while I waited for it to come out...but yea... NFS: MC would have been a better game, imo :(

These two slipping out of 2007 was really painful, as they were my #1 and #2 most wanted games of the year. On the other hand, now they're #1 and #2 for 2008, and maybe with less pop-in and a more steady framerate. :)

~90 days and hopefully we'll have both by then! :D

I can't help but wonder if Pandemic would have delayed Mercenaries anyways, if GTA IV hadn't been delayed. It seemed that those two went hand in hand, the timing of the delays...

Don't forget Perfect Dark, Perfect Dark Zero and pretty much any Rare game made in recent memory.

Hell even some DS games that are pure ports have been getting the major pushback.

Long delays are getting pretty common due to developers desires to make a game do everything (and often either failing miserably or doing alot of things poorly) and just the general length of development taking longer and longer for games on these new systems.

As an extra "kick in the crotch", when Starcraft 2 finally does come out, people still won't be able to play it. Only a small minority of gamers will have a PC capable of handling the game.

I waited so long for that one. I almost gave up. Then it finally hits and it is identical to the (terrible) Genesis version, except with insane load times. redbook audio and a FMV intro.

I'm a little irritated about Nanostray 2 for the DS. It was supposed to come out this week, but was just recently pushed back to February 5th. One month delays aren't that big of a deal, but I wonder what this one is for? The games are surely pressed by now. Maybe there was a processing error at a distributing warehouse?

In actuality, though, the game is apparently very good. What's disappointing is that I could SWEAR I read in Game Informer 1 year ago that it was coming to the Xbox360. No such version exists to this day, and they're already making a sequel for the PC.

Bummer, man. Game looks great and I'll probably never get to play it.

+1, fingers crossed they dont push it again, once is enough for any game in my book..They can polish,wax,clear coat,clay bar it just dont move the release date!

Zombie Hunters 2 kept getting pushed back for it's PAL release, was very annoying. Everytime I would check it would be a couple more months out.

Similar story with other quality Simple Series PAL releases, namely Zombie Virus and Global Defense Force.


Saints Row 2 is going to be awhile yet, but they decided to not bother trying to beat GTA4 to the punch and instead focus on making a quality game. Can't wait!
