Feel free to make your own lists. I'm not a big fan of Street Fighter II so you can replace MK II with it if you'd like, that's what I did with Street Fighter when Mortal Kombat didn't even get mentioned on an arcade top ten episode of Filter on G4. There are so many great games to choose from I don't think a definitive list is possible.

Just so my list isn't totally dominated by tri-Ace games, I'm gonna lump them all together at the top. The order is pretty random after the top three entries.

tri-Ace's games (Star Ocean series, Valkyrie Profile, Radiata Stories)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Super Mario All-Stars (SNES)
Goemon's Great Adventure (N64)
Wonder Project J2 (N64)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Kirby Super Star (SNES)
Marvelous (SFC)

I left out the Castlevania series, even though it truly belongs on there just because I couldn't pick one as being above all others (and even though I cheated with tri-Ace's games, I don't want to turn this into a favorite series list). I also left out the other two DKC games and the first Wonder Project J game, even though they are very important to me. My list contains a lot of games I grew up with and had a big impact on me. When I try to do a list like this, the best way I can think of it is by asking "What games give me a warm, gushy feeling when I think about them?" Some give me that feeling mostly because of nostalgia (besides the fact that they're great games), while others I played fairly recently like Marvelous. But all were so great that they burned the memory of the period in which I played them into my head. I'll never forget the last few days I lived in my mother's apartment which I had been living in for 10 years thanks to Marvelous, or the days in junior high when I wore a DKC2 sweatshirt to school and packed around the Chrono Trigger strategy guide. Good times. :)

3. Final Fantasy 8(PlayStation), Some people may hate this game, but I love almost everything about it. The story, characters, music, graphics, ect. Just an amazing game all around!

4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time(Nintendo 64), This game is a Masterpiece in everyway shape size and form. This is what gaming perfection(atleast to me) is like. This title, has it all!

5. Super Mario 64(Nintendo 64), Still the best 3D platformer of all time(IMO)

6. Final Fantasy 7(PlayStation), Sure it's considered highly overrated and the fanboys of this game are some of the most annoying people on earth. But the bottom line is, This game is awesome(even after all these years)

7. Jet Grind Radio(Dreamcast), What can I say? I LOVE THIS GAME!

8. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas(PlayStation 2), GTA at it's finest, a HUGE world to explore, a surprisingly good and epic story, Pretty decent character development, and an insane amount of replay value(plus 2player mode!). Makes this the best of the series.

9. Phantasy Star Online(Dreamcast), Sure it's just killing Monsters over and over again, and it's repetitive as hell, but it's an awesome and super addictive game that I have spent more hours then I would like to say playing online. Great music and a very clean and nice Anime graphics style only make this package even better. XD

10.Twisted Metal 2(PlayStation), Still my most favorite car combat game of all time.

I know I am leaving a HELL OF ALOT OFF, but only 10 games is just to short of a list. ;)

Personal Top Ten video/computer games... (at this point in space and time)

Here is my list (in no particular order):

Space Invaders - Any system (2600, PlayStation, GBA) - I just can't get enough of Space Invaders. I still play the old 2600 version every now and then, along with all the other versions I have. You just can't beat playing a really good classic game.

Activision Anthology - GameBoy Advance - This cartridges is just too damn cool. I know some folks have complained that it isn't exactly like the original 2600, but it is close enough for me. I spent countless hours with this one, and am still playing it currently (trying to get all the patches)

Diablo II - Machintosh - This game just totally rocks, even after all these years. I spent most of last summer playing this thing each and every day (for a few hours, not all day!). The graphics, gameplay, and plot are just so well thought out. And it is rather a challenge too - nightmare level!!!

Missile Command 3D - Atari Jaguar - I must first say, that I only like 1/3 of this cart, and that it the virtual mode version. This is why it makes my top 10 list. The virtual, 3D style mode makes me feel like I'm actually in the game, fighting to save the cities from the invading missiles and cool boss creatures (I love that dragon).

Pepper II - ColecoVision - I've played this game more times than I can remember, and I never, ever get tired of playing it. Now that is how a good game works, it just keeps you coming back for more. Plus the unique game play and graphics just make this one of the best.

Wizard of Wor - Atari 5200/Bally - I loved this game in the arcades, and it just rocks at home too (not counting the flickery 2600 version - which is ok too). The game-play is the thing here, as the graphics are limited. This thing is just so addictive.

Burgertime - Intellivision - Walking over the ingredients to make a burger - the board of health would not approve. I do though. Of the earlier systems, I find the Intellivision version to be the best, with good graphics, sounds and excellent control action (with proper joysticks of course). This will be in my top list for a long time.

Pinball of the Dead - I've always liked a good video pinball game, and this is one of the best. Outstanding graphics, sound effects, and more. The fact that you have three pinball boards to choose from, and that they are multi-level just adds to the fun. My only complaint is that it is a tad bit hard to get some of the bonus features to activate in this game - but it's just a small gripe.

Future Cop L.A.P.D - Macintosh - it's an older computer game, but I just get such a kick out of playing this game. The graphics and sounds are killer, and the gameplay could not be better. It's fun being a cop in this game! (Now if they'd come out with an OS X version/patch for this game)

Beamrider - many systems (2600,INVT, COleco, etc) - Not totally sure why I like this game, but I do. And whenever I have the slightly chance to play it, I will - for hours. I'm rather good at this game, and just love the way it plays. Reminds me of Grid Runner for the Vic-20, which I also like.

6) Mario 64 (N64) I'm speechless
7) Super Mario Bros 3 (NES) Once I saw The Wizard...
8) Heroes of Might and Magic II (PC) The strategy game for people that don't like strategy games

10) Zelda 3 (SNES) I've replayed this more than any other game over the last 13 years.

10. Sakura Taisen (SS)
A lovely hybrid of strategy and dating sim, spiced with steampunk. Original, addictive and fun.

9. Nethack (PC)
Addictive, hard and extremely annoying at times. It took 2 years to beat it, but it definitely was worth it.

8. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
The first game I have ever played.

7. Tetris
Since I tried Tetris for a first time, I have loved puzzle games.

6. Shining in the Darkness (SMD)
My first RPG.

5. Civilization (PC)
I tried this one for a first time about 4 or 5 years ago. On first day I played about ten hours. I would have played more, but it crashed. Now I have tried Civ II & III, but I still prefer the first Civ over them.

4. Nights (SS)
One of the few games I really, really have waited for. I read all the stories about it on gaming magazines at least ten times, and I bought it almost right after I read a review on magazine. I had very high hopes about this one, but still it could surprise me.

3. Sonic 2 (SMD)
My first game ever. Can't get tired of playing this one.

2. Ecco: The Tides of Time (SMD)
I have to admit, after all the praise I had heard, I still was very sceptical about this one. "Could this kind of game really work?" Oh, yes it could. Better than I could have imagined.

1. 3-Demon (PC)
Yes, 3-Demon. An old, primitive 3d Pac-Man clone. Definitely not the best game I have ever played (Ecco: ToT is), not even close, but still the game I have played most. When I was a kid, I loved this game. Perhaps the only game I have been really "good" at. I tend to suck at games, and never bother to master, but 3-demon was different. I haven't played it for years, thought. Maybe I should try if the charm is still there.

Honorable mentions:Alisia Dragoon (SMD), Romancing Sa-Ga 3 (SFC), Beyond Good & Evil, Burning Rangers (SS)
