Hey,

I've been noticing something going on with my DS as of late. It's not fatal, but I just thought I'd mention it in case there (maybe) is an easy fix for it.
Whenever I play my DS, when the top screen is fully extended out, it works fine and looks fine. However, when I tilt it forward just a little, the screen suddenly turns white (no matter what I'm playing) and stays that way until I put my screen back in its original place. Then the top screen goes back to normal. What could cause this? The bottom screen stays the same no matter position the DS is in. Is there some loose wiring somewhere inside the DS? FWIW, it's a DS Lite, and I've had it since (literally) launch day. Thanks in advance for any diagnosis!

Ribbon cable may be shorting.

Changing out that cable means a new top screen (cable and screen are the same part), and a total tear down and rebuild of the whole system, due to where the cable is threaded and connected.

OSG calls DS Lites with hinge issues "parts" and not repair candidates.

Your mileage may vary. Do you have a Nintendo warranty option?

Checking the serial number against Nintendo's warranty finder, it says that it has expired (and I don't doubt that). It would have to be repaired, and judging by your description of what needs to be fixed, it doesn't sound like a simple swap. Like I said, right now it works fine as long as it's in the certain position (and it's not one that prohibits actually playing the system). Maybe if and when the cable finally gives out I'll reconsider my options. Thank you!

It is most likely a loose connection with the ribbon cable. I would just try reconnecting it to the board.
