Uhmm...this has happened twice over the past month. People respond in pm that the game/item you want is yours and then when you ask them where to send money...you never hear from them again...are we suppose to give bad feedback on this? I wont mention the names on a public post but pm me and I'll tell you. I'm just not sure what to do/is this pretty normal? I pm person and say yes, I'll buy the item/ they respond...sure its yours..then I ask where to send the money....no answer.....:bullshit:

How's your reputation on the forums? I had someone PM me to buy something once and said "yeah sure, it's still available", then I look at their posting history and go "whoa, wait a minute". So I'm left with the choice of saying "It appears from your messages here that you may be difficult to deal with", or just not saying anything and selling to someone else.

It's just plain courtesy to not leave someone hanging in correspondence though. Drives me crazy when I'm in the middle of PMs and the other guy just suddenly stops responding.

Heh. I didn't know that kind of thing was so prevalent. I thought it only happened to people who step on a lot of toes on the forum and later scratch their heads thinking "Gee whiz, why won't anyone sell to me?" I find this is more common in the situation opposite the one described in the original post....I'm the seller and someone PMs me "Oooh, I really want that item" so I say "It's yours! Paypal 39.60 to kidice@awesome.com". Then nothing.
Maybe more people than I think have seller's remorse? "Halo 3 for $20!" "I'll take it" "Oh no, not really".

Happens to me all the time, usually money gets tight, car breaks down, etc. where they can't buy the item and they figure to just drop it rather than say "I don't want it now because I can't pay." Same if they don't like a price given every now and then.
I always end my Buying and Selling reply PM's with something like "either way, please let me know." I also make sure that the buyer feels they are in control if they don't like a price I give them and encourage them to bring another price to the table which I'll almost always consider. After two days if I don't hear back from someone I shoot them one more PM with the above stuff again and wait two more days. After that if someone else wants the items I begin negotiation with them. And always if I'm sorting out details with someone and another interested party PM's me I let the second party know that the item(s) are in negotiation but they're next (or after next, etc.) in line if that falls though. Of course if that first deal does go through I let everyone else that was interested know.
Granted I also have a blacklist of people I don't do business with / have done business with in the past and will not do such again. I made sure to include why they're blacklisted, that comes in real handy. LOL

I have had a number of people who say that they want some stuff and I give them the info of where to send money, then In ever hear from them again. I go through every once in a while and PM them asking if they still want the stuff. I have even had a couple orders boxed up waiting to go and never heard from them again. Hey, if you change your mind, fine, just let me know. That being said, there are a couple people that I won't be dealing with again. I don't think that I have done anybody wrong like that, but if I have, let me know and I'll make it good.

ya, exactly, I don't mind they changed their mind but at least let me know. I was ready to send money on a couple occassions in the past few weeks after the seller said the item was mine....never heard back from them....I still have pm's in my mailbox to prove it. oh well.....I was wondering if it was happening to other people, seems like it is.

I will offer two answers, Fearless. A short one and a long one.
1. I think part of it is that some people don't have a whole lot of etiquette. Simple as that.
2. Then there are good people who simply list more items than they can keep up with. I'm not going to tell people how to do business but as a buyer, I've always hesitated to order from those huge sale threads with 200-300 items where people are downsizing or selling their whole collection, regardless of their post count or feedback. Responses tend to be slow, in some cases you are waiting out other people who want one or two of the same items you do and if you do get an item shipping can be slow at times where this person is sending out a ton of orders at the same time. Not to mention the fact that you can end up with an order that has missing or wrong items if a guy is selling more stuff than he can keep track of in a reasonable manner. There was a very good example of this entire scenario just last year. So I am more likely to buy from people with a shorter "For Sale" list than I am with someone with a long list of stuff.
You will find it is probably one or the other of these two scenarios. Either a guy just doesn't have good manners for a Buy/Sell forum or he bit off more than he could chew when listing stuff. Like I said above, there was one very public case of the latter in 2007.
Not to brag but a lot of my feedback makes reference to my good communication and quick hassle free transactions, just in case you ever want something from my threads ;)
