i would have to go with Animal Crossing when it comes out, but in the meantime, you should definantly pick up golden sun. Sonic Advance isn't half bad either. Too bad you cant get all of the value out of it if you dont have Sonic Adventure 2: battle on GC.

Some must haves:
Pinball of the Dead

Highly recommend the new Castlevania (need import or flash linker for now though). Konami Classics is great. Golden Sun if you want an RPG.

I'm definately going to get one of those linkers.. Emu on the gba and I can catch up with all those GB games that I wouldn't pay $11 for.

Ah, yes! Metroid Fusion. Had the chance to play that one at E3 and I liked it a LOT more than Metroid Prime for the GC.

I would say Castlevania: Circle of the Moon or Mario Kart.

If you're up for a solid, in-depth strategy/RPG, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis is an excellent choice. It's my favorite game released so far this year.

Most of the ports from SNES games are ok, but you should try out Breath of Fire 1 and 2. They have special options added on.

Where did you get a new GBA for $39.95?

small town Pawn shop.
most places in my city sell em for 49.99 at the lowest, and 59.99 is the norm (used cd/game stores.) I've seen em around for 39.99. this isn't the first one I've come by but it's the first one where I had some cash on hand to be able to purchase it.

The linker is great. It's a bit of an investment at first but it'll pay off .The NES and Spectrum emulators are pretty good. Check out http://www.gbxemu.com/ if you haven't already.

My current GBA favs are Golden Sun and Mario Advance 2. The latter I brought on my recent trip out east and couldn't put it down. Super Mario World is one of those games that's easy to go back to again and again.
I would also recommend the GBC Zelda games. They're *all* good...

A word to the wise.. The new ATX motherboard standard will be elliminating the old Serial ports and the Parallel port from the board (everything is USB/firewire/ and ps/2 these days)
This doesn't do much to 99% of the people out there but consider not buying the Flash linker unless it's the USB one. Plus trying to write to the parallel port is a pain in the ass on NT based OS's.. Mr. Gates doesn't want you to do that.

I have no problem with the parallel linker. Even if I end up buying a new computer without parallel I will probably always have an older system with it networked. Nothing wrong with USB either though.

That site is worthless now.. The IDSA closed the site, I wasn't suprised. A site that not only supplies GBA and GBC ROMS but sells GBA linkers so you can play the roms on a real GBA lol. Now even there forums and homebrew areas are down.

Must have happened recently because I just... uhm... transcacted there last week.

Here's my thoughts:
You probably bought a GBA for some 32-bit software, so I won't bother recommending any GB or GBC games other than any of the Mario/Wario Land titles, and any of the Zelda titles.
Anyway, I have Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Wario Land 4, and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.
Mario Kart: SC is my favorite in the series, mixing the challenge of the SNES original with the style and 4-player capabilities of Mario Kart 64.
Castlevania is a time killer, and it is actually kinda tough too.
Wario Land 4 plays great, and is loaded with challenges and great graphics.
And Zelda is well.... ZELDA!!!
Some other games I've tried or heard lots about and recommend buying:
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
Mario Advance 1 and 2
Ogre Battle
Golden Sun
Advance Wars
Don't forget: GBA is getting ports of/sequels to many, many SNES classics this Fall/Winter. Be sure to get:
Metroid Fusion
Mario Advance 3
Zelda III Remake (can't remember exact title)
Contra III
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Mega Man Zero
Wow... kind of a mouthful. Hope I said something helpful...

Lately, I've been playing:
Atari Anniversary Advance
Konami Arcade Classics
Namco Museum
Namco Pac-Man Collection
I highly recommend them all...

There really are some great GBA titles that rival the lineup (and sometimes just rip off) the SNES.
Over two years later, and nearing the end of the Game Boy Advance's timeline, lets revisit this.

Advance Wars 1 and 2. Probably the best turn based tactical games ever. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was okay. I liked Boktai. The Phantasy Star collection is great, as is the Castlevania series. Last, but not least, the Pokemon series is always good. I hate saying that because I really wanted to hate it, but it's so damn addictive. *grrr*

Advance Wars is a keeper..
It's a sleeper for sure, at least for the 30+ year old.
