Shinobi III

I started playing this again thanks to the Genesis Collection for PSP a few months ago. There's some trivia that mentions there was a very different version that was canned for some reason. Is there a proto out there of the original Shinobi III? Thanks

I remember playing a few ROMS some years ago that contain the different beta levels. I looked these up because I know that EGM did a preview of the game and it had levels that were nowhere to be found in the released version.
