Kind of new to the idea of homebrews so anyone got a list of good stuff that can be found.

I haven't kept in touch with the homebrew scene, but Marble Craze and Qb were always favorites of mine.

This Planet Sucks is my personal favorite homebrew.

The Lord of the Rings for the 2600 is pretty good.

Check the emulator section for more, but here's some of my favs:

Conquest of Mars
Crazy Balloon
Fall Down
Lady Bug
Marble Craze
Squish 'Em

I second both Crazy Balloon and Fall Down. Crazy Balloon reminds me a lot of some japanese GBA game called Kiru Kiru Kirururin or something like that. Very fun, and addictive.

Fall Down is weird, but definitely fun. More fun with a 2nd player.

I'm also partial to Jammin!, but then again I like Rush Hour.

Check out www.atariage.com, check out the store, they sell many homebrews, and know which ones are good or not so, the christmas special is excellent to start with

I, too, love Falldown. It's a game concept that I've played a lot of different versions of, but the 2600 one is the best I've played.

I also love Lead, a real nice abstract action shooter sort of game with nice pseudo-ambient pseudo-music.

And I can't get away without a recommendation for Top Rock:

It's like a B-Boy's DDR on the 2600.

I'm a big lover of homebrew--on all systems--so I could go on, but those three are some fun ones. My advice is just to try out everything you find, some are good and some aren't, but it's always fun to see what people come up with.

Are Lead and Top Rock available somewhere? I haven't heard of these before...

Lead here:

Be sure to check the last page for the latest releases (the last few of which I hadn't noticed myself, so thanks for making me track this topic down).

Top Rock here:

A lot of the other student games there are pretty cool, too, so check them all out.

Enjoy!

Hey, cool! Thanks much for the linkage! I guess I was thinking these were on cart, but that's still pretty cool.

The Lord of the Rings for the 2600 is pretty good.

LOTR is not a homebrew, it's an unreleased game.

Another unreleased game (sorry, not a homebrew) you might want to look for is a game by Sega called Ixion. It was a 2600 port of an unreleased arcade game. I got someone to make me a reproduction, and it's pretty good. Nice action/puzzler mixture.

There's been some talk about releasing Lead on a cartridge. It's such a good game and has gotten so much attention that I think it's bound to happen. I've never bought any other 2600 homebrew carts, but I'd definitely be in line for Lead.

Yeah, I finally read the whole AA thread on Lead, and sounds like it's just been in progress, and probably destined for cartridge. Cool!

I really liked Thrust, Gunfight, Vault Assault, and Star Fire.
