I see that the DP price for the original Metal Gear Solid in complete condition is $6. I recently found one at a game store so of course didn't get some great deal like you might at a swap or yard sale so it was $15. It's complete and in nice shape and I thought the price was pretty close to being right.

Anyway, did I overpay? Maybe the DP price is a little low, PSX games are getting harder to find in nice, complete condition. Thanks for any thoughts.

Nah, thats a decent deal i reckon, but i dont live in the US.
But i personally would not consider any complete game in nice condition for 15$ a rip off, (though of course anyone would snatch one cheaper)
But yeah metal gear is a popular series.

That's actually a good price, even more so for a complete game. I paid $20 for mine about two years ago and still think it was a good deal. Just to check, it isn't a greatest hits copy is it? Not that it would be a huge deal, but the original print would be valued a little higher as with all retro games. Also I think the average asking price on eBay is about $25-$27 if i'm not mistaken, so yeah, I think you got a pretty good deal.

Very good to hear, thanks so much. And, I lucked out on the black label as well so no ugly green....I try to keep that to a minimum when possible. I did find a new and factory sealed Greatest Hits Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 at a gamestop and it was 3 for $5 I believe but that's a totally seperate story. I was just thinking of my green label PSX titles and that one popped out because it's sealed.

Well, since I started the story, I'll tell you what the other games were from gamestop and keep in mind that this was a year or so ago: Intelligent Qube and Qbert.
Yeah, pretty good find that day.

I guess I get some better deals in my area, I have picked up 3 to 4 complete copies in past year for around $3 a piece. I usually resell them for $10-15. I would say you got at the average going price.

I've seen them go for less and I've seen them go for more so if its a game you really wanted to play and you wanted to pay the asking price, then it was worth it in my eyes.

Indeed it is a game that I am playing through again, I just had an urge. Good game to have, I didn't get the best deal but don't think I overpaid either. I love the original, it's still fun for me!

I picked this up at goodwill awhile ago for $2, not realizing they sell for around $30 now. I'd say you did just find, and if you feel guilty about it you can just turn around and sell it for more after you've played through it.

I just picked up a Greatest Hits version today at a pawn today for $5. I thought I'd flip easily it on Ebay with a $20 BIN since I sold a few GH copies this past summer for $20-$25. They seem to be only averaging around $10 now though. The original 'black label' release still fetches around $25 however.

I tend to ramble on about this from to time but its still a good memory to me. Two years ago I stumbled across a factory sealed copy of FFVII in a box of bargain priced games in the bottom of the display case at a K-MART. My eyes lit when they met the $12.99 price tag and I immediately took it to the check out line wondering still if I had been dreaming the past few moments, and if it was really true, that I had made such a discovery. I handed my prize eagerly, yet reluctantly to the assistant who proceeded to scan the item in hand. Looking towards me I then heard her angelic voice utter the most enchanting words...To paraphrase she said, "This item is has been reduced, it is now on sale for $6.99..."
I will never forget that day.

I've run across this title a number of times in the last year, either upgrading my copy or flipping it, and I have to say that its price varies more wildly (lets say on a percentage basis) than any other game I've paid attention to. I've seen it simply not sell within the year, or go for 25-30. Prices were so low a few months back that I just bundled it with a random psx that I had laying around for 25 or 30 bucks. The 15 the OP paid is well over what I would pay, but seems about right for current eBay pricing.

I actually have 2 copies of this right now that I don't know what to do with. One is disc only GH and works fine, the other is a complete non-GH, tape on manual, and the discs both have bad circumferential scratches that Nero says give a bunch of bad sectors. Do I sell the GH discs with the non-GH packaging (full disclosure, of course)? Do I get the discs resurfaced? Do I just sell them all together so you have one copy to look at and one to play? these are the times that try men's souls. :sob:
