Okay, so I sold a bunch of magazines to a guy. The problem is, he's in France and didn't really like the cost of shipping the items out to him. So he hasn't paid me yet.

I opened a dispute, but to be honest, I don't really want to sell the stuff to him. He's made me wait a week for payment - I'm tired of waiting, and I'd rather just not bother with the stupid customs forms at this time. He replied to me once. If I close the dispute saying I don't want to wait for the buyer, is it possible that I could receive a revenge negative from him?

I'd rather relist them now than deal with him. I dunno. Any thoughts on this? Am I being a dick? :|

If you close the dispute issuing the buyer an unpaid item strike, he loses all feedback privileges for the transaction, and should be unable to leave you any feedback, much less negative feedback. Even if he somehow manages to leave you a neg, you will be able to get it removed.

If you don't want to sell to him, then you should do the right thing and issue open a dispute on the basis of "mutually agreed to not complete the transaction." However, if you want him to pay, and he doesn't do so, or if he does so, but in an untimely manner, than pursue a dispute on the basis that he has not paid, and you may then issue him an unpaid item strike.

To be honest, though, I have had bidders win some of my items, but then change their minds. So long as they are honest with me (and polite), I never force anyone to complete a transaction against their will. It is the seller's right to do so, but it does not mean it is always good policy.

As far as I know, he loses feedback privileges if he doesn't answer to the dispute at all; but he's already replied to it, saying he'd pay tomorrow. So I'm confused on what to do. I don't think he's a deadbeat buyer... I guess I may be regretting the sale, heh.

If he says he will pay tomorrow, it is reasonable to allow him that opportunity. He could be a jerk, or he could be a really nice guy. Either way, don't penalize him just because you have seller's remorse. Penalize him if he is a deadbeat bidder.

Did you put in your auction that you will ship to France or that part of the world? If you didn't then you're not obligated to. I'd be honest with him and you should be able to work it out with ebay, since by all means he shouldnt of bid on it

Yes, I said I'd ship worldwide, but I also said "ask me what the shipping cost will be before bidding."

He didn't, so he's stuck with the $38 shipping fee. It's a Priority Flat Rate box because the items are very, very heavy. :\

In all of my auctions I clearly state: "all non-US bidders must pay by paypal and must pay a higher shipping charge." This says me from alot of hassels, epecially since some punk ass bitch from the UK won one of my auctions and said they'd pay by money order. I never received it and when I told them this they said they resent it, but I still never received it. I am now pretty convinced that they never sent it in the first place. I regret not leaving them a negative, but atleast I'll never have to worry about that situation again:snipersmile:.

Oooo, you could be in a bit of trouble shipping to France. Their Postal services are terrible, long delays, items going miss, items opened etc. Its always a hassle to send to France :/

Hah, whaddayaknow. I contacted the buyer and he agreed, I'm charging too much for shipping. Instead, he offered $25 shipped for two issues in particular. I agreed, and I relisted the magazines he wanted as a separate ebay listing to keep things legit. We also agreed to end the earlier sale.

Wow. Talking works! D:
