By "pre-release", I mean games that were sent to reviewers before the actual release. Are they worth any more than regular games?

you mean like gran turismo prologue?

well in japan not really because they produce so damn many of them but theyre like any other game, some times theres a ton some times theres not and the value is kinda based off that, and how often is there a pre release game like that though?

sure we get demos but demos are different.

to put it simple, i nabbed a copy of GT4 prologue in japan last summer for roughly $3 or $4 including tax

it varies based on popularity of the title, sometimes the pre-release disks have differneces from the standard releases and this adds a bit of value to the final version since in theory it is a prototype

Depends on the system and the media its on.

A CDR of a PlayStation game that comes with some xeroxed copies of the manual and stuff... Possibly.

The 'Trade Demo' of a PS2 game, somewhat.

Some kind of description would help assess a more realistic value to it/them.

Well, the Thrill Kill pre-release for the original Playstation is worth some money for the simple fact that the retail release got canceled before it made it to store shelves. And it was already complete. However, the problem with the pre-release copies of Thrill Kill is that everyone made so many freaking copies of them that it's hard finding the ones that were actual review copies. But that really doesn't matter because they still show up on ebay every now and then and they always sell well.

I feel real sorry for anyone who buys a *review* copy of Thrill Kill...

I have a cheap one if you are interested in it. It even says "review" right on the front of it. And no thats not my handwritting, lol.

ProgrammingAce's point is that it is more than likely just a home-burned copy of the disc image floating around the internet, not something "officially" made or distributed.

Um...thats why I mentioned it's not my handwritting...very sarcasticly:wink 2:. I realize that all copies of it that are sold on ebay or elsewhere are just that: copies. But that really doesn't matter. What matters is that it's an unreleased game(a permanent pre-release now)that can be easily attained by those that want to give it a try.
