I like the heavy sixer but I don't think it really matters

the 6 switch ones I think were a little better , the 4 switch version had the dificulty switches on the back which can be a bit inconvienint to use. the jr has the advantage of being smaller naturally if thats a concern, but for functionality its definatly either of the 6 switches (proably the lighter one just because its you know...lighter)

I liked the controllers for the gemini but it had a few cartridge incompatabilities that knock it down a few rungs (admitedly games nobody would really want to play..but still it hurts it)

There is really no difference between models. I love the 6-switch Sears editions though mainly because of their looks (silver panel and darker wood texture).
Other than that, one more vote for the Vader (for the looks again)..

AV modded, will have a couple up for sale soon. ;)

Really though I think it depends on your history with a perticular model. I love my 2600 Jr. although it's packed up right now. I'll never part with it simply because it was my first video game console. I really like the style of the Sears Tele-Games six switch (I have a light version I picked up last year at a multi-family yard sale), for the reasons phil_vr said. However the system I have connected day to day is a good old Sunnyvale heavy sixer. I mean, that's where the VCS (and the modern console video game industry really) began.

I still have my original 6-switch with yellow arrows on the joysticks, probably got 25 years ago. I've replaced the innards of the joysticks but kept the plastic case because that's what it originally came with. I prefer that one. Now, if I had a 5200 and 7800, I would probably want the 2600 Jr. because it matches with those.

Six-switch for me, doesn't matter whether it's the heavy or not.

Jr. model is a close second, and the one I play the most.

My preference is the Heavy Sixer, or any non-heavy CX-2600 model. Not the CX-2600A or later.

I like having easy access to the difficulty switches. And the first models looked more streamlined.

Yep, that's my favorite, too. Specifically, I like the Sears heavy-sixer. While the difference between the heavy-sixers and later six-switch models is slight, I definitley prefer the originals. They've got more curves and style. Very much more '70s cool space-toy looking. The Sears heavy-sixer would fit right in on the set of Battlestar Galactica.

Space Shuttle uses the difficulty switches in-game which makes the game pretty much playable on four-switch or Jr. 2600s.

I'm sorta partial to the vader, but the 6er is nice.. I have both. I actually have a few different types of controllers for them along with paddles.
