Looks like the whole Hot Coffee thing is finally settled. People who bought the unpatched version of the game get up to $35 back if they still have original proof of purchase:

http://www.gtasettlement.com/

I still have my original receipts for the PS2 & Xbox versions of San Andreas but I don't know if I'm going to file a claim form. One of the requirements is that you must swear under penalty of perjury that you "were offended and upset by the ability of consumers to use third party software and/or hardware to alter the GTA:SA first edition disc to display the Hot Coffee content" and "Would not have bought the GTA:SA first edition disc had I known the content could be modified".

I kept my Hot Coffee GTA:SA.

So I'm out...

Seeing as how you have to have kept your original store reciept I can't see too many people actually getting the full $35 reimbursement.

Even if I had it I wouldn't do it as it doesn't offend me at all, and if it did, it would be because it's unfinished and buggy, they should have worked harder on it, heh.

I would have because it would get me $35 (or $70 considering I had both). However, I don't care for GTA so I never picked them up.

I still have my original copy of San Andreas, and I couldn't give a flying fuck about Hot Coffee as I don't have an industrial-sized stick up my arse. :)

How would you explain to them that you were so offended by it on the PS2 that you had to run out and buy it for the Xbox? ;)

considering i've had my dirty version of GTA:SA since its original launch theres no friggin way i'm going to still have the damn receipt. I really wouldnt bother anyways since the content technically isnt in the game at all and it was akin to finding som extra texture files left over in the games coding. I'm not going to milk it out of principal.

If I had a receipt I'd consider filing just for the hell of it, but I wouldn't expect to get the money any time soon. I remember filing for the music settlement and I didn't get the money for a good 1 or 2 years later, when I completely forgot about it.

Heh, good point. I think I bought the Xbox version before the PS2 Hot Coffee content was discovered, so I think I'd be covered. The settlement rules says only one claim per person/household is allowed though, so it really doesn't matter anyway. And both my receipts have my name on it, so I wouldn't be able to cheat and use a friends address.

So $35 is the going rate for a gamer's dignity these days?

I think you may still be able to get more for it on ebay. Or maybe not, but as a collectible it's worth alot more than that $35.

I would consider if I had a reciept but I bought mine off a friend for $20 not long after it came out since he didn't have time to play it.

I'm keeping mine. I like hidden/added content.

What a strange idea that they should have to pay me for throwing in something extra.

Much less from some of the responses.

Personally I was offended and upset that Rockstar left that portion of the game OUT of the final product! I mean, it's okay to have sex with a hooker in the back of an old Cadillac, pay her, then chop her head off with a samurai sword and take your money back .... but NOT to go on a nice date with a girl, and then drive her home and have CONSENSUAL sex?

How much are they going to pay me for being offended about that?

The possibilities for satirical analogies abound. "I was shocked, SHOCKED! to learn that all this time John McCain has been naked underneath his clothes during the entire time he was campaigning!

ha, I think you are right ha ha. I wouldn't do it just for the fact that if too many people showed that it offended them, thats just another win to the whole videogame censorship thing. If nobody returns the game then its showing that it didn't bother too many people who actually own the game.

Stupid question, so please don't flame, but how do you know if you have the "Coffee" version?

I think it can't be greatest hits or the special editon or a pack in for a trilogy, if none of those fit your copy, then you have it. Fairly sure if memory serves me atm. @_@

The new cleaned up version says "Second Edition" at the bottom of the front case. If it doesn't say that it's the Hot Coffee version.

Couldn't have been said better.

Basically, people who own this game and try to get the refund are only truly upset tha there wasn' a cheat code to unlock the hot coffee mode to begin with.

I bought the original the day it was released, and I still have it. Plus I threw out the receipt ages ago, and it's not like I desperately need the $35.
