Does anyone think that the ad-on will someday be a sought after item?? I think the blu-ray has won the battle that will only mean mr. gates will have to stop production of this item. As well on ly 250,00 have been bought. What do you guys think.

They will probably become rare but they won't be sought after because they only play movies, the same movies are also available on DVD.
I don't think Betamax, D-VHS, Minidisc, etc have become more sought after since they have been deceased.
With as cheap as some of the new upconverting DVD players have become, there really isn't much of a reason to buy BD either.
I think DVD will last use until we surpass 1080p.

I dunno, some of the rarer formats do attract a cult following, and I can see the same thing happening to HD-DVD. I reckon it'll wind up along the same lines as the Mega/Sega CD, perhaps. Hugely unpopular in its day, but later to become a collectors item.

Mega/Sega CD has games available for them while the HD-DVD add-on is just for movies and it has to be attached to a computer or Xbox 360. If anything, people would rather have a stand-alone player if it does have a cult following later.
If, and when, the rest of the studios move to BD, then surely they will rerelease all of their HD-DVD offerings onto BD.
Then again people still buy the shit out of VHS at the local pawnshops around here. They buy them for something like 10 or 25 cents and sell them for $1 unless they are Disney then they are $5-10. And everytime I go in there, people are buying 5-10 VHS. The DVDs are only priced at $2-3 but some people are idiots.

the diffrences between DVD and HD-DVD/Blu-Ray are like black and white.
