Found these guys on YouTube and if there were a news/review/funny show for video games, movies, and TV shows, then this is it. :hail:

The show usually puts up new episode once a month, but each episode lasts half an hour and worth the wait.

The reviews range of movies to TV shows to video games (retro and classic), as well as a few funny shorts, such as, Matt Rau's odyssey with the XBOX 360. On top of that, they rate games based on the most simplest rating system I have seen:

Keep It!
Try it! :-/
Toss it! :bad-words:

Here are the links to their website:

and the link to their videos on YouTube:

Enjoy!;)

Wow! Thanks for the plug, Press Start. Wasn't sure much of the retro gaming community knew about the show.

I'm very honored that you like the show, and that you're giving such nice comments. Actually, Digital Press' website has been in my bookmarks for a long time. I frequently drop by, and now I'll be frequently visiting these forums.

Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you next episode!

I've seen that guys retro reviews. Good stuff. Glad to see the show is getting a following, especially with folks who ACTUALLY respect classic games, and do not regard it as the dark ages.

Thanks, man.

Hey, there's a NAVA meeting coming up on February 23 at Digital Press in Clifton NJ. There's going to plenty of people coming, including Captain S and his crew and possibly the AVGN himself.

That would rock, except starting the 19th, I'm going to have jury duty, and who knows how long that'll last, but I'll see what I can do. Would very much like to attend, and meet them all. I like both Captain S, and AVGN.

Only other problem is getting there. I live in NY, but don't drive. Any suggestions? Perhaps a bus? Carpool? Horse and carriage?

Nothin like a good VMTV episode to put ya to sleep. Now all I need to do is make some VMTV jammies. Maybe with the little feet. ;)

Nah, would never sell. It would bomb just like "VMTV the lunchbox" "VMTV the breakfast cereal" "VMTV the flamethrower"

I don't know the latter does sound tempting. (Does it come complete, or is it a DIY?)

As for jury duty, who knows? Last time I was called for jury duty, they told not to come in.

As for transportation, I'm sure they're some good, honest folks on here will be glad to give you a lift.

Heh, don't think I would actually sell a flamethrower. I got younger audiences who watch the show. No sense in having angry parents write in. Though to be honest, I'm actually waiting for a parent to write in to the show, either an angry one or a happy one.

If an angry parent is writing in saying my show is a bad influence, I would say "Thank you. Thank you for taking interest in what your kids are watching"

Sadly, no letters, yet.

I just wish the videos were available through iTunes as a podcast instead of just through YouTube. I'm always looking for some good video podcasts to watch on break at work.

Couldn't you download the videos off my website (as WMV format) and put them on your Ipod, or whatever device you're currently using for watching podcasts?

Not too familiar with ITunes, or podcasting. To me, downloading and transferring to an IPod device sounds doable. I could be wrong. :)

Someone who used to listen to our radio show would download the mp3 off our site, and dump it on his IPod.

Besides Youtube, feedback is always appreciated on the forums from time to time. It helps to know we have a community in a place other than Youtube, or wherever. That's the reason for each person who hosts the show, we leave our official email address, so we can hear from the fans, or just regular viewers.

Are you going to do follow ups of previous discussions on your show, like what you thought of the wii before it came out in November 2006?

Or the New Transformers Animated Show, which you first thought was not a good idea? Have you watched that show lately?

VideoMastersTV
02-11-2008, 07:26 PM
Those are great ideas, actually. As far as the Wii goes, I still am not crazy about playing games with my own family. I do believe the Wii will bring families together, especially with Wii Sports, and a few other appropriate titles.

I got to see the animated Transformers recently, and man, is it awful. You can moan all you like about how cool the animation is. If that animation is your cup of tea, if the goofy jokes make you laugh, more power to you. As for me, I watched it, didn't like it.

Remember when they brought back He-Man in 2002? I was excited, I missed the 90 minute premiere, but I caught episodes on a regular basis. Some, I realized were ideas borrowed from the original series. That kinda turned me off. Then I noticed the change in outfits to either coincide with some new toy release, or some other odd reason. I'm sorry, that Snake Men armor was the dumbest idea, though I do own some of the enhanced figures with all this heavy armor and what-not.

He-Man will more than likely be thoroughly discussed in a future episode. I need to secure the DVD of the series they did in the late 80's- early 90's (NEW Adventures of He-Man) in order to fully review the entire legacy of He-Man. (Ok, a bit off topic)

So the short version of this is "I still think the new Transformers is a bad idea", and "So far, the Wii has had some great success, in my opinion". A follow up to that would have been good in December as a good year wrap up, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

I like the new Transformers and shortly sum the reasons that it's fresh, well-thoughtout, and has distinguished characters. But enough of that, I want to get on to a bigger issue...

How come whenever a show or movie gets reinvented, the negative comments I hear the most is "It's not (so and so)" and "(so and so) is better than this $#!^"? Why can't these people look at these shows with a pair of fresh eyes and not have (so and so) on the brain?

If that's not possible, then what will it take to satisfy them?

There's negativity towards anything that people decide to re-do or re-invent. It's like re-inventing the wheel. There's no need to do so. With movies, it's because they want to introduce a modern audience to it. Take King Kong. No one will sit through the original 1933 version with Fay Wray because the special FX are too primitive by today's standards. But during that era, the FX were pretty groundbreaking. Then there's acting, and plot. If you were to show a classic movie to a modern audience who is already spoiled with CGI FX, sexual innuendos and fart jokes, they'll instantly dismiss it, and label it boring. Oh, and let's not forget, you gotta throw in some character for comic relief. Disney is notorious for that.

Now, let's talk about TV shows. When they re-invented Bionic Woman, I was upset. Why? Well, let's think. How did Bionic Woman originally get created? Through the Six Million Dollar Man, Steve Austin. OK, no Steve Austin to be found in this new series. Now they gotta re-imagine the origin. Basically, they took what made Bionic Woman great, and made it un-interesting to watch. I sat through 45 minutes of the show, and while I knew what was going on, I was rather bored. And now, they're re-doing Knight Rider!

Is originality completely dead? They're taking what we loved from our past, completely changing it around until it's literally unrecognizeable, and full of flashy FX, because some network idiots think "that's what the kids wanna see". Look at the cartoons they put on. All these freaky looking characters that the ADHD generation can easily imitate, and idolize.

I guarantee you the people who have seen Peter Jackson's King Kong, the Bionic Woman show, and the new Knight Rider show have NEVER seen the original. These are the same people who regard the golden age of cinema as "the Dark ages", because there wasn't computer generated FX, or enough explosions, or whatever gets today's audiences hyped up, or hyper.

Simply put, there's negativity towards these shows and movies is mainly because it's been done already. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say we need something original now.

Well, most people don't realize how much new movies suck. They don't actively seek out good movies and are perfectly content watching a subpar PG13 horror movies and Owen Wilson comedies.
Owen Wilson : Movies :: Holocaust : Jews
Originality is dead. Theaters only stock what are guaranteed to sell seats and can't afford to take chances with more original films because people don't go to the movies as much. People don't go to the movies as much because there's nothing truly original anymore.

Thanks for your support, toxic. Glad you enjoyed the shows.

Oh yes, originality has been dead for a long long time. Remember back when people took a gamble on the original Star Wars movies. Now Lucas said he was inspired by the old Flash Gordon serials from the 1940's. That's what's missing in today's society of filmmakers. Inspiration. No one gets inspired by the classics, and if they did, they'd just imagine some CG ship instead of actually building one.

Now all you see is people who sit around a huge table and decide on what movie can we stick Angelina Jolie in, or what TV show can we make into a movie.

I love it when Hollywood thinks if they have the original actor from a TV series in their movie, it'll make the movie a success.

There are so many people having there own shows now for, reviewing video games it's hard to keep a track of them all on youtube....

Isn't it weird how most people these days don't review the games, they sit there, play it in front of the camera on X-Box Live, yell at some schmucks through a headset, and that automatically qualifies it as a review. And there are people who love that. Someone needs to explain that to me..

Uploaded a very old clip from 1995. It's a scaled down 1 minute review to Uniracers that my Co-Host re-wrote because he thought my review was too long (it was 2 1/2 minutes at least). And the result is in this video. So go easy. I know it kinda sucked.

Awesome episode, John!

I agree about there being no more heroes on kids networks these days. When was the last time we had an adult or level-headed teenager as the star of the show?

It seems that every cartoon you see is either:
A) A teenager, a candidate picked last for role model of the year, getting superpowers to fight evil, yet makes the stupidest and/or impulsive decisions that no sane person would make.

B) A young child with no moral compass, whose entire existence is foolishly attempting stupid and crazy stunts without giving a second the consequence of his/her actions. The ones that do stand up to morals are punished by their peer groups and is assimilated into the "social standard" by peer pressure or fear.

The thing I really like about your shows is you go out into the internet and bring to light all these interesting shows that no executive in his "right mind" would ever go near. I believe within 2 or 3 generations, our grandchildren will mostly get their entertainment from good-to-honest web entertainment that are doing it not for the money or the fame, but to bring original and interesting entertainment denied by most corporate big shots for too long.
