I happened to be out today near a Blockbuster. I had not been in one in a long time, so I went in to see if I could find a good deal. After looking through the used-rental games, I noticed a clearance table with containers on it. There probably wasn't anything good in them, I was thinking, but I looked anyway. After going through two containers of games, I end up at the next one. RIGHT THERE is a copy of Fatal Frame 3! I pick it up, and my jaw drops LITERALLY to the floor when my eyes hit the price tag:

$15.99!!

Completely suprised by this find, I take it to the counter so I can take a look at the disc. The case was a "locked" Blockbuster case, so I was kinda reluctant to get it without the official case. The guy opens it, and to my next surprise, the booklet is there in PERFECT shape. He then lets me hold the disc, and this was even more surprising: this rented/used game was NEAR perfect. There are a few surface marks, but you can barely notice them. So far, the deal was looking good. The outer cover slip was even there, which made this a complete package except for the case.
I give it back to the guy, he locks the case back up, and I go and put it back into the bin.
I figured I should scout out an official empty case to transfer the game to. (I know, I should have bought the game first)

After a while, I am now at Gamestop. You all know how they put empty cases up on the shelf with little advertising slips in them? I looked through any that I could find. Low and behold, one of them was an official case. I bring it up to the counter and ask if I could purchase it. The guy says no, but then he takes the slip out and says that I can have it!
Thanking him, I head back to Blockbuster.

After ending up back in the clearance bin, I luckily find FF3 right where I put it back down. I bring it back up to the guy, buy it, and transfer the game and case contents to the official case. Now I have a minty complete copy of Fatal Frame 3 that I bought for $15.99! :D

Good deal? I think so, considering a copy went for over $46 just today on eBay. ;)

That one is a hard one to find. I picked up a used one at gamestop 3 months ago for 34.99.

That was after combing for months.

Just so you know, Blockbuster gives away official PS2 cases by the tons. Save yourself a trip next time and ask if they have any available.

And yeah, not a bad price. After reading the title I was expecting to find you paid a quarter, but not bad.

This reminds me, what is the value of FF2 for the xbox ? Is it commending the same amount of money or it's cheaper ?

Yeah, I remember when I bought my copy of FF III for $19.99 new at Gamecrazy. I still haven't opened it, but it's the only game in the series that I have on PS2. I own FF I & II on Xbox because they're cheaper...

Average $17-27. It will go up in price if PS2 version gets ridiculously expensive.

I believe it wasn't made for the xbox so that I believe makes it more hard to find.

Within 200 miles of Chelsea here in Alabama (near Birmingham), there are at least 56 copies available at the Gamestops/EB's. It is kind of a regional rarity, but it is more expensive than anything else.

I did try it, but all the guy at the counter would say was, "this is the case it came in".
They could have had some, but he was not willing to look at all.

I never bought part 3 but I've found FF 1 and 2 for PS2 at a hollywood video (not gamecrazy) where they were having a used 2 for 15 sale. They didn't even have stickers or anthing on them either, and I wasn't really sure what they went for at the time. Last time I checked, part 3 didn't sell for as much.

I missed out on a sealed Fatal Frame 2 at Wal-Mart a few months ago....
It was $49.99, but it sold before I could get it.
I had my eye on it for a while too, but I guess it left my grasp for a reason. :(

Only the second one was made for the Xbox. Unless TRU sold me a fake game and my girlfriend was not freaked out about it for 2 days.

I had no idea this one had surged in price. I picked FF3 up last year on a Toys R Us clearance for $9.99 and it's still on my shelf, sealed, to hopefully be played at some point in my life ;)
