I have a copy of Rez that is still sealed. It is an original copy and not a reprint. I picked this up at Circuit City years ago and never opened it. I was wondering what you guys think of it's value? I'm trying to decide if I want to open and play it or not. I also have the Japanese version that I got for cheap from play-asia. My decision is between opening the US copy or modding my slim ps2 for the Jap version of the game. Do you guys have any advice on which way I should go?
Sealed games *seem* to retain their value. If you are in it for the long haul. Rez was just released today on XBL. Prices on used copies will probably fall thru the floor.
Rez is a great game. If you have access to a 360, try the demo before deciding between the mod of opening the game.

Since Rez is not as rare as everyone seems to think, i would open it and play it. It's a great game...

I bought and sold my copy for about 30 bucks it was a rental copy disc only totally awesome game. Definetly try the 360 version if you don't wanna open it

if you mean the Dreamcast version(Pal) then yeah, it's rare. After all the reprints that came out for the ps2 its now pretty easy to find a copy. a friend of mine recently sold his original copy of the game that was also sealed for only $36 on ebay...it probably goes for even less now since the xb360 version has just been released

I sold my sealed reprint copy for around $40 about 2 months ago. The value of this game has plummented over the last two years. It is super easy to find in many EB/Gamestop stores. And the new xbox live arcade HD Rez version will make it even less valuable. Either try to sell it soon or just open it up and play it. I'm pretty sure it will never get back up to it's $80 and up asking price (from 4 years ago) ever again.

This is one of the few times I am glad I am in PAL country. Seems the game was taken off the shelfs here for some reason and not given a second print run, thus is hard to find.

I'll have to keep that in mind in case I ever come across a PAL version on the cheap.

I call BS on this. Even in PAL territory Rez is not hard to find, there are currently almost 10 copies listed on ebay alone.

Try searching EBay Australia before you run ya mouth.
Its still harder to find that the US copies because of the single print run. The PAL version still brings in good money as well.

1st: You say Rez is rare because you can't find a copy in Australia even though many copies of the game are easily available in other countries?
2nd: Don't confuse value with rarity. Just because game A is worth more than game B does not mean game A is more rare than game B.

Wait, wait. Where did I say it was rare? All I said is that it is hard to find, and it is indeed hard to find compared to a large amount of PS2 games. The PAL version is indeed harder to find than the NTSC version... for once.

In NTSC regions(US, Canada and Japan) it is not hard to find or even very valuable anymore. But the Japanese version might fetch a good amount of money if it includes the Trance Vibrator peripheral.
