I got this game sometime at the beginning of November along with Earthbound Zero on NES (courtesy of Gamereproductions.com). I'm embarking on the very last part of the game. I just got the earth stone and beat Titan. I have two Master Knights a Dragoon and an alternating white/black mage. All are at level 40. Are there any suggestions or anything on what I am to do? I hear this last part is extremely hard.
In any case, if anyone is thinking about playing it, deffinetly do. It pushes the NES to the limits as far as sprite effects. The enemy sprites are fantastic. Magic/Summon spells look sick as fuck. The game makes you absolutely appreciate the battle system. Nice ATB rpg, and Square was forgiving and allowing your enemies to continue their attacks in the scenario the one of the enemies die on the screen. Playing the first two make you greatful for this.
Along with Earthbound Zero, this is probable the best RPG for the NES I've ever played. Play it.
Edit: Oh yea, make sure if you buy this game that you save your game on numerous files. I've lost 2 games to this before. Occasionally, one of your saves will go missing. Really a small set back as long as you use multiple. Make sure you do the old Reset + Power Off too.

Well, in the last dungeon, go through first of all and get all the treasure. It's in the basement. There's lots of good equipment and such, and even if you want to level up more before the final boss, you'll want good stuff first. I really didn't think it was THAT hard. Just, make sure you have the best equipment you can get, be at a comfortable level, then charge on in.
Your party sounds odd, I'll give you that. You might want to think about changing that alternating white mage/black mage into one of the better mage classes, like a Sage, or a Magus, or a Devout. If you stick with the lower tier mage jobs, you won't have nearly as many spells to cast on the high-end spells.

My mistake, he is an alternating Master White/Black mage (I can't recall the technical names). Since my Dragoon is moderately weak compared to the M. Knights attack, I was thinking about either changing him into a Summoner or a M. Black Mage to balance out the magic.
Any items I am really going to need?
I am going to get 99 HiPotion and probable 99 Potions.
I have about 10 softs.

you can get 2 new jobs in the final area one of which is a godlike sage that can cast all magic and has great magic powers, I beleive the other was a ninja who is equally good to use, you just have to spend a little time levling them up before you charge into the final area.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a team that I should use to just fucking dom? I don't really care about the whole trial and error, do-it-yourself shit. As long as I beat it myself, it's all the same to me.
I think I read online that I should have M. Knight and 2 Master White Mages for the last fight and a random strong job class. Any help?

the sage you get in the final dungeon is worth using...the ninja and paladin (depending on what translation you're using..I think he was called a samurai in one of em) make up a great party.

I really don't think two master white mages/devouts are necessary. I think that was just someone saying what worked for them. There's definitely many different kinds of parties that can beat the game. My final party was Ninja, Black Belt, Devout, Red Mage, which was basically just a variation of the party I used the whole game (started as Thief, Monk, White Mage, Red Mage). Just a plain red mage, because he was dual wielding pretty much the best two swords in the game. Red mages are cool like that. Just as long as you can do some good damage, and can heal, the rest is just tweaking.

For sure, I figured it wasn't necessary but the way someone described it online was to have 2 master white mages cast cure 3/4 every round and two guys doing the attacks. I'm just hoping this isn't gonna be one of those battles where I have to keep playing it over and over cause I keep dying (ie: last boss on Earthbound and last 3 battles on Shining Force II). However, I guess in retrospect that's what makes the game fun and all that much more rewarding. I guess the reason I posed the question was because most the battles in this game are kind of formulaic (the battle where you pretty much have to use ALL dragoons).
Thanks for the help everyone, I'll consult you further once I embark on the final dungeon. Unfortunately, tonight I have some other obligations as I'm in college and it is the infamous Thursday.

Alrighty, everyone is about level 45 and I have two Ninja's and two Sages. Bought Flare, WWind, Meteo, Life 2 and Holy. Got all the weapons. After a bit of level building, I'm about ready to beat the shit out of this fucker. Hopefully that will open up sometime for Zelda (Wii) and No More Heroes.

I think I got all the way to the final dungeon and then stopped playing. By that time I was so overpowered it wasn't even fun anymore.
Usually I don't have trouble staying engaged when I'm super-strong, but for whatever reason, this game was an exception.
I really enjoyed it when I did play, though.

Lousy story.
I too had to push myself to finish it.

I finished with 2 ninja and 2 sage. Last boss isnt too hard at level 50 with 2x double shiruken each turn.
This was on ROM years and years ago.
On a side note, I maybe retroactively "legal" because I just bought the famicom version of ff3j for a stately price of $3.

I want to shove a Javelin in my cock. Defeated 3 of the crystals, but that is completely worthless unless you beat all of them b/c every single attack will miss the Dark Cloud. I just spent 4 fucking hours on this. I want to die.
EDIT: Interesting, did it again without trying to beat the 4 crystals. EVERY SINGLE ATTACK MISSES! WTF!?!?!?!
I am considering alcohol/hard drugs to compensate for the last 5 hours.

Just beat it! This game kicks ass. Buy the reproduction of this game. Do yourself a big favor. One of my favorites.
