It seems if you want the good stuff, you need to hit the flea market early when people are still setting up!

Definately, I always try to go places early if I go whether it is a flea market, goodwill, or garage sale.

GBA-SP with Brother Bear and plug $5 (works, but I am not sure if it's a bright SP or older dull one)

Press the screen light button. If the screen gets brighter / dimmer it's an SP2, if it shuts off / turns on then it's an SP1.

Not always true, time also depends on the crowds, weather, and so forth. Most of the time though, yeah, you need to be to them in the earlier hours. Different sellers usually are at full capacity at different times. I've been hitting mine around eight o'clock for the past few years unless it's a warm summer morning in which I go earlier. By eight o'clock most everyone is setting up or has just finished setting up (outside of the large junk resellers that unload all day from 6AM to 4PM). If I go before then people are still usually inside or waiting for the morning moisture to dissipate. Nothing bums me out more than getting there before a favorite seller is ready to go, which is why I go later these days. Hasn't hurt my finds any. ;)

Today's finds:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-02-25-gc.jpg

Woot! Replacement Gamecube from ScottK. All it cost me was a few PCE games I had for trade. Too bad this thing is purple, I hate this color. :p

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-02-25-pc.jpg
$6 total. I remembered Ubersoldier and I wanted to play it a while ago... the other stuff was just to round out the price.

Oh yeah, then there's this.

I picked up:

kid icarus for nes, ghosts and goblins for nes, and 2 genesis games for $5

Game gear with plastic carrying case, re-chargeable battery, magnification screen, mortal kombat, ninja gaiden, and super offroad. $3

Atari flashback 2 missing ac adapter $3

I found one of those Atari tokens as well for .50 cents

Not much to find today while driving through the snow storm...came within half a foot of sliding into someone's car, so I guess I'm lucky my brakes worked just well enough to stop my car.

Picked up the Tom Clancy Classic Trilogy for Xbox for $2.99 and considering it is in a single dvd style case I didn't realize that the games were each on their own disc (I didn't think they'd all fit in the case).

Damn what a great day. Any of the SNES games for sale, espically Chrono Trigger?

I just got back from the pawn shop I bought the two Final Fantasy games at eariler today. I bought a G4 Mac Mini for $216.99 out the door. The only thing wrong with it is isn't a Superdrive. :( But its great other than that! :)

I have to verify I don't need any maps but I'm pretty sure all my RPGs for SNES in the collection are complete. Should end up with most of them for sale. For the NES, I need box/manual for Pool of Radiance and Faria. Those carts and the other 2 boxed games are available.

Hopefully I can get rid of them for enough to buy a new clutch for the Supercharged 3800 going in my Fiero :)

Damn and you are a Fiero driver? I was *so* close to buying one during my Senior year of high school. I had found an 88 GT for $1500 but it was automatic. I bought an 87 Supra Turbo instead. I might try to find another one some day but more likely to get another Supra Turbo first.

Hit me up with the Chrono Trigger cart or the box/manual for BoF and Secert of Evermore if you don't need them. I got those the other day but they were loose. :(

Actually got a pair of them. An 86SE ($400) and an 87GT ($650). They are the #6 and #7 Fieros I have owned. So far I have less than $2500 in purchase prices for all 7 combined. Just gotta find the deals. 86 had bad spark plugs - really - all 6 were bad. The 87 had a bad water pump. Fixed both problems and have been driving them ever since.

Anyway back on topic - just fire me a PM with offers and we can work something out.

I went to another CD/Game Exchange this evening.

NES:
Knight Rider (cart only) - $2.50
Rocket Ranger (cart only) - $2.50

Genesis:
Batman Returns (cart only, R4) - $2.50
McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure (cart only, R6) - $2.50

N64:
Duck Dodgers Starring Daffy Duck (cart only, R5) - $5

Dreamcast:
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (w/manual) - $2.50
NFL 2K (complete, Sega All-Stars) - free

-Okay, it's officially Batman Returns month for me. I got the NES version at another CD/Game Exchange last week, and the SNES version earlier this month at a Goodwill.
-I splurged a little on Duck Dodgers, but I've been interested in the game ever since reading about it in Nintendo Power. In fact, I still have the poster from that issue hung up in my bedroom (it's more of a homage to Looney Tunes than the game, though). This is the first copy I've seen in a couple years, when I passed one up for around $15.
-I already have a copy of McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure, so this one is going to a friend of mine for what I paid. I found my copy at a GameCrazy last summer.
-I'm now seven NES games away from 200. Back in the day, my cousin let us borrow his copy of Rocket Ranger for the longest time, so it's nice to have a copy in the collection.

Saturn stuff in the mail, shipped out last Friday afternoon from Japan and received Tuesday afternoon:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/cyberfluxor/022608a.jpg
Slayers Royal
Slayers Royal 2
Tetris Plus
Tetris S
Riglord Saga
Riglord Saga 2
Shining Wisdom
Shining the Holy Ark
Digital Dance Mix
The King of Boxing
Kakyusei
Columns Arcade Collection *

Damage this time: $57 shipped.
* The main game I wanted in the bunch as a Columns fan and currious about the sound quality and eye candy over the Genesis and other console ports I've played.

So for this month total, as a recap:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/cyberfluxor/022608b.jpg
Modded Saturn is up, healthy and happy playing these imports. Still gotta make a Kudos to Dave for his handy work.

BTW:
Is Riglord Saga one or two discs? From what I've found online it points to just 1 but the case can hold 2. Just the case production was stuck with?

Good to know you're still enjoying your system. As of late it seems every mod I touch turns to crap. LOL Those boards with strange design anomalies that made their way into a few hardware revisions have been popping up on me. Things simply not behaving like the other board revisions, stuff like that. Oh well.

As for my finds the flea market was running at excellent capacity yesterday, nice warm morning so the crowds were out. I didn't have a whole lot of cash on hand but was looking forward to picking up a few 3DO games I left behind in the previous week. At Cy's giant lot there wasn't much of anything but I managed to find an XBox Gamester Reflex Arcade Stick and a Motorola SURFboard SB5101 cable modem among his piles of junk. $4.00 was the damage for both. I don't have an XBox any more but I know this line of sticks have good build quality and I may go the modded XBox route for console emulation on the TV.

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-02-26(01).jpg

The modem is complete and seems brand new, works fine.

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-02-26(02).jpg

Here and there from other vendors as I made my way around I came upon some good pickups for a few bucks. I already have the TMNT game (have had it since it was released years and years ago) however it's a title I never see in the wild and it had a Game Boy snap case so I picked it up. Puggsy looks like it may have never been played, the seller said he was forced into a smaller space for this week so he didn't bring out his other stuff but I'm not sure if he knows the difference between Sega CD and audio CD's. SNES power adapters seem to be the hardest to find for me and we all know that pretty much nothing else fits a SNES deck.

GB - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan (loose) - $3.00
SCD - Puggsy (complete) - $2.00
SNES - SNES Power Adapter - $2.00

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-02-26(03).jpg

My used game friends had their 3DO stuff out again as well as a case of Sega CD games. The SCD stuff was all pretty much commons but they offered them to me at $2.00 a game, which is my usual price. Some nice jewel case complete titles in there but mostly loose. I didn't buy any SCD games from them but I may go through them again next week. What I did pick up were 3DO games, some of the titles I left behind last week - although there were a few more I left behind this week (Psychic Detective, Samurai Shodown, CPU Bach) as well that were disc only.

I did grab almost all the games I had left behind last week that I wish I had picked up. The copy of Braindead 13 only had the second disc sadly so I left it there as well. I also didn't buy Slopestyle (really, how hard is this title to find?) and PaTaank but I'll more than likely get that one next week if it's there. For the most part though, unless there's something I'm really looking for, I don't have to go through his 3DO games anymore - aside from the above mentioned titles but those will be easy to find and not require combing through everything one at a time. Also had a couple NES games that I wanted, Target: Renegade since I don't see it much and Rollerball because it's a great pinball game and since I passed it up last year I hadn't seen another copy.

3DO - BC Racers (jewel case complete) - $2.00
3DO - Gridders (jewel case complete) - $2.00
3DO - Guardian War (jewel case complete) - $2.00
3DO - The Incredible Machine (disc only) - $2.00
3DO - Sword & Sorcery (JPN) (with booklet) - $2.00
NES - Target: Renegade (loose) - $2.00
NES - Rollerball (loose) - $2.00

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-02-26(04).jpg

I picked up The Incredible Machine for my girlfriend since the PC release was one of her favorite computer games. I passed up a loose copy of Thunder & Lightning (NES) for $5.00 from a vendor I hate due to his unwillingness to budge on his inflated prices (does come in handy when he has something worthwhile that goes for a set price). I may get it next week if it's still there as it's another hard to come by title I don't see much.

Oh, LOL another "find" I guess since I found it when I was going through some stuff in preperation for packing up and moving in a few weeks. My old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bandana from the official fan club of 1988 or so vintage. Of course I wore it for the entire day. LOL My girlfriend snapped a picture of me doing some work on my Psion 3a with it on.

I didn't find anything... much.

The flea market was pretty bare, nothing of interest, but I did find an almost new Power Base Converter! The thing's box had been tossed around and ripped, but the thing was nearby. The seller wouldn't budge - the damage was $5. He also had quite a few NES games, but none of them interested me.

I was about to leave when I noticed a stand in the far end of the flea market. The guy had speakers, some PC parts... and a large suitcase. I thought it was one of those suitcases which held typewriters inside, but I got closer and did a double take. It said "Turbografx 16".

I dashed towards it and what was inside?

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-02-27-pcecd.jpg

It came with the power supply, core system, CD drive, CD attachment, one pad, a System Card 2.0, a Legend of Heroes CD (in the drive), and three loose games. The seller wanted $30, I talked him down to $20.

Now, the TG16 side of things works fine, but the CD drive won't spin up. It turns on, but it doesn't do a thing. :( Can it be repaired? Or can I sell it like this, since all it needs is a fixed CD drive?

(Edit: I thought it was a 3.0 card, but it's a 2.0 - sorry!)

did you make sure the turb knob on the right is in the locked position and the turn knob on the bottom of the system is also in the locked position? that might be the problem, the cd part needs to be set in just right for it to work as well.

I picked up a xbox 360 ace combat flight stick for 37.00 at gamestop. It was used no box or instructions no game. I was unsure whether to take or pass so I took. I hope the live demo works with it as I don't have the actual game.

Probably won't make a difference, but did you try 'formatting' the tg16? You might want to give it a try:

Yeah, the Five Below stores were selling new Reflex joysticks with a Tao Feng demo in the box for $5 over the holidays. I bought 2, and then they just disappeared.

Also, the new ones come with two different balls for the top of the stick, round and cylindrical.

I'm itching to hook my original Xbox back up and try one of them out with King of Fighters Neowave, but I've got no room for it right now. :(

Anyways, here's the highlights so far this week:

I got the last new HD-DVD drive for 360 at a local Gamestop for $50!!! ;)

And I found the following at Target yesterday:

Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (PS2, GH) - $9.98
Flags of our Fathers HD-DVD - $7.46
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (360) - $9.98
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (PS2) - $9.98

And topped it off with a nice cheap pre-owned PS2 game at Gamestop:

Kengo (PS2, complete) - $3.69

Added three games to the collection today:

Genesis:
Super Street Fighter II (cart only) - $2.50
Universal Soldier (cart only) - $1

Gamecube:
Vexx (complete) - $4.99

Super Street Fighter II was the score of the day, but the purchase of Vexx was nice as well. I've wanted to get the Gamecube version for a while, but up until now, every copy I came across was either incomplete, or the disc was too beat up.

(Overheard at one of the places I checked out today: a woman is talking on her cell phone and looking at the GBA carts. She asks the person she's talking to on the phone if they've heard of "Mario and Luigi Superstar Sega" LOL )

SNES power adapters seem to be the hardest to find for me and we all know that pretty much nothing else fits a SNES deck.

I'm jealous. I could use two of those, but I really don't want to pay 12.95 for third party adapters at the only retail place around here that has them.

My finds for most of Feb:

Battle Cars(Gen loose .25)

I seriously don't know how you guys do it. Guess I'm at a big disadvantage because I don't live in a big city.

Press the screen light button. If the screen gets brighter / dimmer it's an SP2, if it shuts off / turns on then it's an SP1.

Looks like the SP is an older model then. Thanks for the info!

I went to a pawn shop yesterday and lucky me, they had Persona 3 with box and artbook for $10.00. SWEET! Sadly I've never really played my Persona 1 or 2 that much as they never could hold my interest, but perhaps #3 could change my opinion of the series.

They also had God Of War 2, but it had a circular scratch on it and I did not want to take the chance on it as I heard the circular ones are the worse type of scratch. Is this correct? I really wanted the game, but I did not feel too bad as I know it'll be everywhere this summer for cheap.

I guess I could also mention my gaming finds from earlier in the month. Last week at a Salvation Army it was 3 N64 games for $2.99 each. Namco Museum, Banjo Kablueie (sp) 1, and everyone's favorite Superman. I was happy to get Superman because I've owned the box for years and had no game go in it. This game store would toss out the boxes to their cart games and I would swipe them from the garbage. Given the ratings it got, they should have tossed the game away as well! It's actually one of my favorite N64 game arts to display.

Two or three weeks ago I got 2 DC games at the Salvation Army. Street Fighter III something and Soul Caliber. I forgot what I had paid. I think they was on sale, half off $2.99 each.

I do have a question, where is the best place online (meaning cheap) to get clear trays for these games? I can get the CD cases cheap enough at 20 cents each, but they always come with black trays. I seriously need about 100 clear trays as these finds in the wild always need a complete change, including the clear tray. It really bothers me to use a black tray or a scuffed up clear one.

Thanks for reading!

Make sure Persona 3 includes the soundtrack CD, though.

I buy my CD cases from, oddly enough, Wal-Mart. Best Buy also sells these.

I seriously don't know how you guys do it. Guess I'm at a big disadvantage because I don't live in a big city.

How big is the city you live in because I've had luck on both sides of the fence, right now I live in Sioux City, IA, which if you include the surrounding area has about 100,000 people and I know most people around here wouldn't consider that big at all. I also shop in Sioux Falls, SD, Omaha, NE, and the Minneapolis/St. Paul area when traveling. Sure in Omaha (or the twin cities when I visit there), I can find almost any game I'm looking for but I'll have to pay the store prices, where as, in Sioux City and the towns below I may not get my exact game I want most but I usually come home with something that I feel I got a good deal on. Also I can make a couple trips weekly and visit all the good spots in my area where in bigger cities you could be travelling a good hour between two locations.

I've also had luck in the town I grew up in (Aberdeen, SD roughly 25,000 people) whenever I visit my parents. There I've found Earthbound, Harvest Moon 64, many uncommon nes games, lots of genesis games to fill holes in my collection, a few random imports, and others all for less than $5 each.

My sister currently lives in a town with even less people (about 6500) and I seem to find a few things everytime I go there.

Now, I guess if you get much smaller than a few thousand you'd probably be in a pinch especially if you visit places often, but remember road trips are fun, there has to be a decent sized city within your area.

Ok, that was really way too long but the real point of this thread is that I need to brush up on my spanish now that I picked up a new/sealed spanish edition of Jade Empire for Xbox for $3. Actually it'll probably stay sealed as a curiousity, but a little backstory we have a lot a spanish speakers in the city next to us and people thought that they would actually buy this so they stocked a bunch of copies, but they just sat around store shelves for years.

Pretty good day today. The first batch were at the Goodwill. I'm not actually certain I'll keep them at $5 a pop, but they have a good return policy, so I can decide later. All the Odyssey 2 games are complete except K.C., how often do ya see that in the wild!

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds72a.jpg

Next I went and picked the PS2 and games up from a CL deal. $50 for the ps2 and they had a bunch of games selling at 3 for 20. These were the best (that I didn't have/wanted).

The county that I live in has about 30,000 people. And the two towns I thrift & flea market in(because my county has none) have 7,000 and 8,000 people. So I don't have a whole lot to work with.

My last find of the month:

- Halo 2 (Xbox. Complete with near mint instructions, beat-to-hell case & cover art, and Xbox Live 2-month trial code. Disc in decent shape): $4

Bought Halo 2 with the soul purpose of trading it on to pay off Super Smash Bros. Brawl. According to Cheapassgamer's list of trade-in values at Gamestop, it's supposed to get me $15, but Gamestop's site says I'll only get $6. Still make a profit either way, just not as much as I expected.

Yep, it's complete, box, cd in a paper sleeve, artbook, all that good stuff. A friend told me that P3 Fes is due out in April. Yet something else to look forward to.

My last find of the month, GrimGrimoire for $12 or so at a Hollywood video that is going out of business. Bought several DVDs as well, but the selection was pretty picked over as it seemed the sale was going on a while and I did not know about it as they only hung the sign up today about going out of business where I could see it when driving by.

Circuit City
Alien Syndrome (Wii, new) - $16.96

Trauma Center: New Blood (Wii, new) - $16.96 ;)

Patapon (PSP, new) - $4 after trade-in of duplicates of those same games

Goodwill

Really depends on how much value you add to the "backups"

I myself found a SNES with 5 or so games for $20 yesterday. Of course this is after I buy a SNES on eBay last month...

These arrived in the mail today from Digital Press user Bojay1997...

Unopened and sealed Ultra Pong Doubles for $10.00. Of course I opened it as soon as it arrived, cool to be the first person to open a console manufactured over 30 years ago. :) Perfect example of an Ultra Pong Doubles although I did have to reflow a solder joint for the second player jack, it barely had a connection on the board.

Also got a Roberts Rally IV for $5.00. Works great and I love the dial for game selection and the over all look of the console. I honestly played this more than the Ultra Pong Doubles today. Somewhere in shipping the reset button got demolished so I had to replace it. I can't seem to find the cap for the button however - I more than likely threw it out with the packaging materials. :( I went back through the trash (recently dumped) but couldn't find it. Oh well, I'm not complaining.
