I have about 250 Genesis carts that I can't figure out what to do with in respect to storing them in a way that I can still get to them to play. What I have in mind is something like the interlocking holders that were made for atari 2600 carts. I have seen such a beast on eBay but very seldom. I could stack them on shelves but I really would like to stay away from that. In the past I have put them on wooden video/cd racks from Wal Mart but they only stand about 3 feet tall and take up a lot of room. I have also been to the Game Rooms section on this site but it is so huge. It would take forever to sort through all of that. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
Thanks!!

I keep my Atari 2600 loose cartridge collection (I've got a few hundred of those) in those long wide clear plastic drawers that you can find at stores like Target or Wal Mart.
Similar to this one (except wider and with wheels on the bottom)

it allows me easy access to the whole library and I can roll it out when I want to play with the 2600, and then roll it back for easy complete storage.
Perhaps something similar would work for your Genesis cartridges.

yea thats guys probably right, I only have like 50 genesis games and most are complete so I haven't tried it yet, but I does work for 2600 games very well two drawers can hold about 200 atari carts. It will be less for genesis but should work. By the way most sizes don't work well with snes carts because of there size but it is somewhat better than a shelf with them on it.

Or if you have some tools you could build yourself a wooden game holder. Paint it black and put the SEGA logo on it. I did that a few years ago and it turned out pretty awesome. I was going to build game holders for NES games that looked like a NES box system, but I lost interest. Maybe a project for me this spring/summer!
Loose Genesis cartridges are the exact same size as audio cassettes, so you can use any existing cassette storage system.

Yep, this is what you want. The sports titles and a few others that are squarer in shape tend to stick out but otherwise this is a perfect solution...

I use an old hang-on-the-wall cassette holder. Works great!

I keep mine in a box (no easy accsess) but since my collection is a complete, I use a book shelf.

I'm a fan of those drawer style cases (like the one in this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-VIDEOGAME-CARTRIGE-STORAGE-CASE_W0QQitemZ150209666877QQihZ005QQcategoryZ49230 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem only with 3 rows fit for genesis games). But only if you find them locally somewhere as shipping would be a pain, I've found 5 total (2 official, 3 genesis/snes generic ones of which I got two because the 3rd was broke) at thrifts for only a buck or two each.

I like the sound of that. It sounds similar to what I have for my 2600 carts. I didn't realize Genny carts were the same size as cassettes. (duh) I'll start paying more attention for those in thrift stores. Thanks for all your help everyone!!!
