Anyone familiar with gaming in France?

I've seen many cultural pages on gaming for Britain, Japan, China, Brazil, and Korea. But I have yet to read any on France. I was curious if anybody would have any information on what consoles/games have been popular/unpopular. Would really appreciate any input!

I'm just making assumptions so don't trust them but wouldn't they have followed the same likes/dislikes as the whole of Europe? I just looked up Google and all it came up was that France considers Video Games as art (which is pretty cool, although only a few games are deserving of that title IMO)

Not sure how they view games but I can tell you that there is an amazing district of game stores in Paris. Something like 20-25 stores all compacted within a couple of city blocks. I've spent hours there going through each one and found all sorts of cool stuff in all of them.
