I am very interested in buying this item and was wondering what you guys thought of its condition.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280196150761&_trksid=p2759.l1259

Its one of the best I've seen and may make the plunge depending on what you guys think.

Thanks

Okay then, sorry for the suspicion. It's just that a brand new registered user posting a topic related to eBay as his introduction to the community usually raises a few eyebrows.

Personally, I find that if someone needs to ask others weather or not they should bite the bullet, then it's probably not worth it.

That is quite beautiful I must say, one of the few I've seen recently in excellent confdition. Good luck with your bid

It looks factory fresh to me... though personally I think it's insane that you're willing to spend over $400 on it.

what's USAs obsession with sealed games nowadays? I mean you guys thrown away the packaging in the first place.

My "weather" doesn't talk to me...yet! How did you get yours to do such a thing? Whether or not you give us the answer is up to you but this could be a big money-making idea!

Very nice indeed, the game looks like it was in a time capsule since 1995. But is it worth over $400 ? Not to me.

To each his own I guess. I have quite a lot of genesis games that were brand new and never opened but I opened them all because I got them cheap enough. I wouldn't personally spend 400+ on a sealed game - maybe if I finished my collection and wanted to add a nice touch to it but other wise...no

I'm sure it will go much higher than 400. If it ends below 600, I'll be disappointed.

No game is worth over $100 in my opinion. I guess if I had loads of cash, I'd think otherwise... :) That saying, that looks to be in very mint condition. How much was this game when it first came out? I'd guess $69.99 to $79.99.

If you're the high bidder, you already "took the plunge". Why would you bid first and then try to ask for assistance? There are quite a few mint/sealed copies of Chrono Trigger out there. Not enough for everyone who wants one, I'm sure, but quite a few nonetheless. They all pretty much look like the one in the auction, but pictures can be very deceptive. Good luck.

These people don't understand how cool it is to have sealed versions of the greatest games ever. I attempted to have a sealed Chrono Trigger and sealed Final Fantasy 7, but both turned out to be re-sealed and fake. If I had the $$$ I would pay top dollar, as these are pieces of cultural history, and they WILL go up in value at a rate which will outperform the stock market. In 40 years, I wouldn't be surprised for a sealed Chrono Trigger to be worth a million.

Remember, ours are the first generation for gaming. RPGs will continue to come out as long as we're alive. Our generation have yet to become mega-millionaires, but just wait for some CEO in 2035 to take up gaming as their collection - not fancy instruments or Pollock paintings but classic, sealed games. CHRONO TRIGGER will be one of their centerpieces. My advice is to GET IT, and enjoy your retirement :-D

Baseball cards regularly sell for a million bucks,
Games are much more valuable, the art of the content plus complete box, becomes a piece of history, it's all a package. They have sentimental and cultural value and are still relatively young. If sealed CT is worth $1500 now, imagine the price in 10 yrs, 20 yrs, 30 yrs... I remember when Chrono Trigger first came out, even then it was hard to find and sealed it was $79.99 at the local game store, for RPGs it is the holy grail, a sealed original FF7 is similarly important but won't be as valuable since the game sold a million copies, but is still worthwhile to have!

Unfortunately you probably just raised your ending bid by a bit by posting this thread, as I am sure someone on here now wants that (incredible) looking copy for themselves. However I hope you win it as anyone willing to pay that much for one game must really really want it. Good luck!

I worked in the electronics section at Target during the Genesis and Super Nintendo heydays. I remember stocking 10 or so sealed Chrono Triggers on the pegs one day. If I only could have seen the future.

Good point. Why have them sealed when you could open them and play them? Unless you are like me and have two copies: one to play and one to watch it's value go upLOL.

I feel the same way about when I worked at Toys R Us back in 1999 and they still had a bunch of Genesis and Super Nintendo games in their clearance bins. The problem was, they weren't at clearance prices. They were still $24.99 and up. Had they been at $5.00 a piece I would have cleaned up. And to think they had so many copies of Super Castlevania 4, Contra 3 and similiar titles.

Well, comic books have been around much longer than video games and I don't know of any ever selling more than $100,000. And they are just as rare, though usually alot more so. So if they don't reach a million dollars in profit you can forget about a sealed Chrono Trigger(or any other video game for that matter) ever getting anywhere close to that.

Five seconds in Google. (http://scoop.diamondgalleries.com/public/default.asp?t=1&m=1&c=34&s=262&ai=52910&ssd=5/20/2006&arch=y) A 4.0 CGC graded issue of Action Comics #1 sold for $195,000.

Ok, so change my $100,000 comment to $200,000. Either way, thats one of the rarest comic books ever in that condition(much rarer than any video game) and it only went for $195,000. Of course it will definitely go up in value over the years(all rare older comics do) but not in our life time will it go for a million dollars:king:.

That would be worth a lot more to me than this $1200 paperweight. I guess I just won't understand the point of sealed game collecting. Just seems a huge waste of $ to me. The best is people who pay top dollar for sealed games just so they can be the first to open it lol.

Ridiculous amount for the game. How amusing would it be to have the buyer open it to find nothing more than a copy of Shaqfu, Cal Ripken, or some other ultra common crap title. I will admit this game has a certain draw to it and I'd dole out a cool $100 bucks for a nice sealed copy but anything more than that pushes my holy crap thats expensive button. Well I guess someone has a lot of money to toss around on sealed games. Must be nice.

I collect sealed games too for various systems, but I've never spent more than $70 for one, except for Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and I got mine cheaper than what it normally goes for.

The only reason I could understand to pay that much money for is if it were worth more and you were going to make more than that reselling it. This game has now sold for more than a grand twice on ebay in the last few months, but I don't see it going for much more than this $1,200 price. And I hope not because that same money could buy you a whole video game collection.
