I still don't get why there is always so much hype when one of these is sold or surfaces. This was a 100% unofficial item that was created by Working Designs by simply sending a GunCon to a local trophy making place to get it gold plated. They then purchased an aluminum briefcase and some foam and just combined the GunCon with a memory card and a copy of the game. Sure, it was limited, but there are lots of one-off promo items made by game developers for specific members of the gaming press. Can someone please explain to me why this is such a sought after item?

The gun and memory card were painted, not plated. The case HAS the Elemental GB logo embossed on it, thats what makes it special. Its the same kind of desire that people have for other rare one off kinds of things. Its really rare, from a good development studio and a interesting to say the least publisher.

Not that this is worth quite the 1k+ that it went, but it's a damn fine and interesting collection piece no matter how you look at it.

I disagree and think it should definitely be over $1000. I think the $1350 or so it went for is about its value. Maybe even more if hyped even more or sold privately.

It is THE grail for most Playstation collectors. Sure there may be a few items that are rarer, but not that are as neat of a package and released in the US. You are sitting here trying to bring the Assassin's case down a notch because of what it comes with. Do you know of any other RARE games that are as neat as this? I sure don't. It might not be HIGH quality, but at least they made an attempt to do something unique in the US.

Also, they are incredibly rare. There are what, 5 or so known in collector's hands outside of Working Designs ex employees?

How often do these get sold or surface? I've seen way more things like Champ carts pop up than this thing

I guess my issue with it is that it wasn't actually "released" and yet people still act as though they need to own one to have a complete Playstation collection. That would be like saying every prototype or press kit or pre-release version of every game is necessary to have a complete Playstation collection. It just doesn't make sense. It's not like they sold a limited edition of the game or even gave the general public a chance to own it. They just took it upon themselves to put together this package for a specific competition at E3 which was not open to the general public. Namco didn't paint the guns and Sony didn't paint the memory cards and the game itself is not any different than the regular released version. I own the game itself and it's not exactly one of my favorite gun games. I also don't think slapping the game in a metal briefcase with a gold painted Gun Con and a memory card is super cool or remarkable. So, I recognize that some people really lust after this particular piece of gear, but in my opinion it's not exactly a must own item.

Is the winning bidder a member of this forum? I see that bidder paying high for lots of PSX stuff.

Not that I know of, but not everyone thats buying left and right on ebay spout off their ebay id's here for wallet safety. Looking over their recent feedback they are buying lots of sealed SNES games (along with the random DS promo type items).

@ MightySlacker
As of right know I know of 4 including this one. Dangerboy's, Vic Ireland's, that one, and the one that sold for 750ish a few months back.

Does anyone else who worked for WD own one?
