"Microsoft has confirmed the launch of a limited edition Xbox for release across Europe from May 2nd. The heavily rumoured translucent green machine that looks similar to the debug units used to run preview code comes with two translucent green controllers and will retail for £149.99/229.99 euros.

Michel Cassius, European Director of Xbox Platform, commented: "The 'Xbox-green' is instantly recognisable and by making the Xbox this translucent green we have, we believe, created a console that anyone would be proud to show off in the home. It is a 'must-have' for Xbox fans across Europe who are keen to show their commitment to the future of gaming and who want something a little bit different".

LOL LOL LOL

This is getting just a little out of hand. Excuse me, Microsoft, please stop tying to rape us. I mean, how many bloody "limited edition" Xboxes will there be? Last week, there was the Dino Crisis one, now this one, on top of the Panzer Dragoon one... And the last two don't even seem to be limited in their production runs!

I know that Sony is not far off with this tactic either. They love to pull the same trick. I just think that it is out of control now. But, I dunno... Mr. Microsoft there says that it is a MUST-HAVE.... Unreal. And, secondly, why would anyone be proud to show a translucent green hunk of plastic in their home?

Nintendo has their limited platinum edition, Sony put out those horrible pastels as well as an improved model Sylentwulf spoke of in a thread a few days back.

Whatever they want to do is fine with me. It's not like Pokemon & you gotta get 'em all. :P

Microsoft doesn't have NEARLY as many limited editions as Dreamcast, N64, and any gameboy ever made :) I say screw it, if people are stupid enough to buy 10 Xbox systems because they're all different colors, Microsoft SHOULD rape their wallets. Maybe it will remove them from the gene pool when they have to end up living under a bridge in a limited edition console house.

Personally I think they should just sell the shells and make it so you can swap them so the system color fits your mood.

That would kick so much ass, Tempest!

I wonder how much it would cost to make a console shell that is capable of changing to any of a variety of colors?

They do have the console shells available for most systems, the problem is:
A. Most of them are for jap consoles.
B. You have to take the system apart, and re-assemble it in the new case, BIG pain in the ass, and BIG chance of screwing stuff up.

Those Latex "stickers" are your best bet for console customization.

Replacing the shell on your console isn't that big a deal if you are careful and read the instructions. It will void your warranty, however.

Having done it myself, I can totally understand why these companies don't release the shells as an aftermarket thing. There is tons of room for error. Like I said though, if you're sober and halfway intelligent, you can do it without screwing up your console.
