I heard a rumor that Nanostray for the Nintendo DS from taken off game shelves only a week after its release. Is there any truth to this? If so, why was it taken off?

I hadn't heard this before ... I sure the heck didn't run out and buy it the first week and managed to pick up a copy new later.

No, there's no truth to it at all. I do wish they had done so, though....it might have prevented me from wasting my money on it. I guess Nanostray 2 doesn't suffer from the same idiotic control decisions that the first game did, so maybe I'll check it out. Maybe.
Update: Still feeling pretty burned from Nanostray.

Not true. You can still find Nanostray at several Toys R Us stores.

Nanostray did not get pulled from store shelves. The game had an extremely limited initial print run, and a bunch of people ran out and bought it because they heard great things about it. So shortly after its release, it was unavailable for a while and in "high demand" until Majesco (I believe that was the publisher) printed more copies. But no - it wasn't "pulled."

I also liked it. Never had a problem finding it, though when if first came out I only saw it at Toys R Us. It showed up in Gamestops and such later though.

I think the whole rumor got started because Majesco was in really bad financial shape at the time of release and the CEO jumped ship or got fired. Because of this, I think a limited number of copies were shipped to stores so there was a buzz going around that the game was rare.
Then Majesco released Cooking Mama and everything was fine again.

I LOVE Nanostray! It was THE reason I bought a DS. I cant wait for Nanostray 2. But seriously, I'm starting to think it will never be released. It's had like 5 realease dates over the past year and they just keep pushing it back. I'll be happy though, as long as they get the same guy to do the music. The music in Nano 1 was so atmospheric and immersive.

I thoroughly enjoyed nanostray, probably because I am not a huge critic on shooters so I do not notice everything wrong with it. I felt it was a very simple shooter with a great soundtrack and good degree of challenge while not being too challenging. I am buying nanostray 2 for sure.

Yeah, Nanostray is good.
According to the idiots at the local Gamestop, their company didn't carry it, or even order it unless a customer pre-ordered it; not uncommon for the less than AAA DS titles. Don't quote me on this though; these are the same idiots who swear that the Neo Geo can play Gameboy games through the memory card slot.
I bought mine at Best Buy. It was one of three copies.
And hey; there's always the internet, yes?

One of my local Toys R' Us stores had several copies with their $9.98 stuff last summer (I got my copy there in June along with Bust-a-Move DS and Tomb Raider Legend during their B2G1 DS sale).
They're long gone from that TRU, but still easy to find.
