Sometimes when playing my N64 at random times either the screen will just go black, but the system will stay on, or the game will just reset? This is pissing me off i don't know what the problem could be, does anyone here have any ideas?

Well if it's just the 1 game that you have problems with, it's probably that game... If it's multiple games then it's probably the system. I'm sure everyone will recommend cleaning it and as many contacts as you can. Good luck.

Nah it happens with pretty much every game...what is the easiest way to clean it?

Um, you may want to give us some time to respond, but you already have the most valid answer...

I used to have random lockup problems. I took out the RD-RAM, and cleaned it, and put it back in, no problems since.
(that is if you added more RD-RAM.. if not and only the jumper pack, that still might need cleaning too)

The suggestion of cleaning along with evildragon's jumper pak/RAM expansion pak advice are probably the first things to do. I wouldn't suggest cotton swabs being mashed into the N64's slot as bits o' cotton could be left behind but you can get cleaning kits rather inexpensively.
As for checking the expansion pak, cleaning it is one solution but another would be to just try reseating it (pull it out, put it back in and make sure it's snug). If you have a spare expansion/jumper pak, try swapping it out and see what happens.

If you don't have or want to get a cleaning kit, I have a cheap as free method that I sometimes use, since I'm not convinced those cleaning kits work in the first place. Anyway, I take a credit card, fold a piece of high quality paper (I have some cotton paper I use) around it, add a drop or two of alcohol and then push/pull that in/out to clean the socket. In rare cases I've used fine grit sandpaper instead of the paper/alcohol.
