What is this? I see it was released in Japan in early 2007, a year after Coast 2 Coast was released.

Does it have content like new tracks that weren't in Outrun 2 or Coast 2 Coast?

Was this that collection talked about here before with lots of soundtrack cd's. Was there any new ingame content with this thing like tracks, songs, etc.?

I believe this is just the Japanese release of 2006: Coast 2 Coast

Yes, but it does sport a major difference from the US version: Logitech GT Force wheel support.

Yes, you are correct Klausien. Also, if I remember correctly, they removed the online features present in the US/EU release

Yup, they had to do that to add the USB wheel support. The excuse from the devs is that there wasn't enough leftover CPU time for the IOP to handle both networking and USB peripherals. Frankly I think it was a worthy trade-off, since nobody ever plays Outrun online anyway.

There are some other important improvements in this version: the Turbo Outrun music has been fixed (no fade-out and recue nonsense like in the US/EU releases), frame rates have been improved in certain trouble spots, and the ending animations for Milky Way and Giant Statues have been added back in. They had to do the endings as polygon animations, since the arcade cabinet apparently used HUGE video files for the shuttle launch and volcano.

The engine noises still aren't fixed, and have a weird hollow sound compared to the arcade version. Only the XBox and PC versions got that right, but it's a pretty minor flaw.

For these reasons, I consider this release to be the definitive home version of Outrun 2 SP.
