Does anyone have a junker/parts SNES, N64 or GC that they will sell me the AV port off of it?
I am planning on AV modding a couple of NES top loaders and I wanted to use the "offical" AV port. In case you're not sure what I'm talking about, it's the 12pin connector that you plug your yellow/red/white cable into.

I was thinking of buying a junk system off of ebay but it looks like shipping prices are going to make it rather expensive.

Well, I'm looking for two of them. I'm not really sure what the going price is since I haven't seen any for sale. :)
How does $5 a piece plus shipping sound?

As for posting pictures, I guess I could. I'm planning on using the AV mod that is posted on one of the Nintendo fan sites, so it's nothing new and spectacular.

If ooXxXoo doesn't sell me a couple of them I'll definitely be interested.
Thanks for the offer.

OK, Evildragon I guess I'll take you up on your offer and, yes, I'm in the US. I'll send you a PM shortly.

If any one else has one to spare let me know. I would like to have two of them if possible.

Thanks,
Mitch

I'm sorry this is taking far too long.. If anyone else has an AV port they can sell please do.. I'm very sick and don't think I'll be able to make it to the Post Office..

If no offers, I'll deliver the package when I get better, or at least good enough to drive.

EDIT: If I end up still being the one with the only offer, because of the trouble, I'll pay shipping..

I'll send you a PM with my PayPal information once the package has been sent.

So far Evildragon is the only one to come though with one to sell. If no one else in the US has one available I may take you up on that. Hopefully just shipping the port shouldn't be too expensive.

Thanks,
Mitch

Let me check the parts stock at Next Level Videogames. If all is good, I will PM you.

You might want to try fitting the first a/v port before acquiring more. I had the same idea as you but once I saw how little space there was, I just went with fitting external jacks.

I have received the first one and and it looks like it will fit just about perfect.

Yes indeed, it arrived last Saturday. And I was able to start working on getting it fitted in to the case. :)

Here's some pics of the mod so far. I still need to notch the case but I was waiting to get another A/V port to use as a guide. (hint hint)

The first two pics are from my first test to try and clean up the normal top loader horizontal lines from the RF picture. It helped lighten them up fairly well. The later ones are from the full composite mod, I left the RF hooked up as well. The composite output picture is very clean. :)

Sorry some of the pictures are not the greatest, I'm not a very good photograher.

before finalizing your mod, grab an av cable and a multimeter and measure for resistance between the inside and outside of the yellow rca connector with the cable not connected to anything. all the european ones i have seen have a 75 ohm resistor in the cable. i heard a rumour that it was pal ones only that had this, not ntsc.. but i need confirmation.
if your cable has one, you may need to take it into account. an unrequired 75 ohm termination is going to result in a darker than usual image.

Well, the mod is finalized except cutting the case. I think the resistor is only used in PAL cables but regardless the picture looks fine. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm hoping to have this finished so I can bring it along to the SC3 meet in a couple weeks.

I just checked and it tests out with 0 resistance. So no resistors at all.
