Games with the most satisfying ending

I always thought Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 on the NES had great endings, but some of that is due to how hard the games were. I was just happy to finish them.

One of my favorite endings is Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES.

I'll throw in Sanitarium for the PC. Suddenly what has really been going on is cleverly revealed, and there's a nice bit of voiceover narration over the credits that wraps things up. And then the most ridiculous parody song featuring voice clips from the rest of the game starts up! It left me with the warm impression that the developers really cared about what they had put together.
