sick and tired of special connectors

alright i am tired of the propritary connectors used for A/V out on consoles.

does any one see any potental problem with drawing composite or what not from the pinout on the board in console X and running them to regular RCA connectors on the rear of the system that i will install?

i am talking saturn/dreamcast consoles

it depends on the system and what you want out of it. for my snes RGB connector i had to put 3 filter capacitors on it. most of the time though you can just get the pinouts and some RCA jacks and wire then connect em to the bottom of the AV port

Only time you would need something like resistors or filter caps is if you want RGB.

i may do the digital audio mod and i just discoverd an import game i want so i am going to make a one reigon switch for it aswell

the toploader NES needs a bit of hackery for composite out. if you want it without those annoying vertical lines in the image you need to put in a few parts

oi, ok but this isnt a top loader its a saturn
a MK 80000A saturn at that

yeah, you have no problems, ive done something similar with a saturn.

some consoles, like the snes and n64 (pal at least do) have a 75ohm resistor in the av cable, but i dont think the saturn does.

and in any case, it wont do any harm to miss out on stuff like that, it might just make the imahe a bit washed out, in which case youll notice and put in the resistor.. (resistor goes from the video line to ground if you need to add it, most consoles have this internally, but the pal snes and n64 do not, so it is in the cable instead. all composite video (if not all video) devices have this 75ohm termination, or are meant to.. there are exceptions but we wont go into that now since they dont apply.) other components people talk of are probably either just for rgb, or are for adding composite to consoles that are natively rf only.

in short, do it, if it doesnt work out, come back and we'll help you fix it.
