View Full Version : For Me, Call of Duty 4 makes me want to shelf Halo 3 for good.

Being that I am a big Halo fan and like the great online shooter thing, I thought I was enjoying Halo 3...alright. I agree with many that the game was very much overhyped, and quite frankly got pretty frustrated with the online issues and waiting(online for a game). I put all this aside and enjoyed it for what it was...a fun multiplayer with friends. This was until I recently rented Call of Duty 4. While I agree that the games are geared towards a different crowd, even a big Halo fan such as me has to admit...Call of Duty 4 wipes the floor. Framerate, easiness to get into an online game, to nearly lag free gaming. I am hooked, and can see why this recently become the #1 played game on Xbox live.

Halo 3, it was nice knowing ya.

I feel exactly the same. Halo 3 is all I used to play but I haven't touched it since I got CoD4. Main reason is because there isn't any cheap weapon combos like in Halo. Plus the experience points and ranking system give me a reason to keep playing it. And being able to choose your weapon class + customizing it is great too.

My only complaint with CoD4 is that the game ends when the host disconnects (and ithappens way too often). Hopefully they'll fix that in the next patch though.

I still prefer Halo 3.

I like COD4, but it can get a tad boring online after awhile (not forever, I just get sick of playing it that day, then am ready to go the next time).

They're two entirely different games though. Halo 3 is more run and gun and head on combat, and COD 4 is more lie in wait and take your time. Both very fun experiences.

The "high-pitched voice, whiny, 11 yr. old ratio" is also much higher in Halo 3 vs. CoD4. Yet another reason to chose CoD4.

Kind of true. It's replaced by the "Low voiced, douchebaggish 16-30 year old who has gone prestige 3 times and thinks he's God." Yet another reason both games are awesome.

Halo 3 is better because you can have more than one player per box. If you have friends, Halo is better.

I played halo for a little but it was boring.

I have cod4 for PC and I play it a lot, but i play TF2 a lot more.

Yeah call of duty is a really great game. Although I didn't need call of duty to put Halo 3 on the shelf. Halo 3 made me put Halo 3 on the shelf:frustrated:

Keep playing COD4 while you can. UT3 is coming to a 360 near you soon enough...

UT3 is really bad. No one stopped playing COD4 or TF2 for it when it was released on PC.

UT2k4 is so much better in every way.

I don't understand the hate for Halo 3. Call of Duty is a good game, but it's a different kind of shooter. Halo must fall into the "cool to hate" category.

I never said that I hated Halo 3. I also think that many here Do like Halo, but were put off by how sub par Halo 3 turned out to be. Lets face it, Halo 3 was one of the most overhyped video games to come out this last year. For it to be shown up by other shooters the way it has proves that the game is not the shooter it once was. When Halo came out on Xbox, it was the king of the hill for a long time. Then Halo 2 came out, and was the pillar of Xbox live. Halo three came out and well, it just did not showcase the quality of the other two titles. So far, the multiplayer maps are so-so, the framerate(30fs) not to mention the hit detection. I also want to point out the constant defending of the hit detection(as noted on the bungie website), is kind of sad. For the Halo fanboys out there, I am sorry, but for anyone that cannot see some glaring problems with the game(an offline game by the way), then you really need to get your eyes checked.

anyways, back to COD4, I have put 10 hours in the game in the last three days. The last game I did that was Halo 2. I consider myself a casual FPS person, not hardcore by any mean. The fact that a military game can make me feel so confortable playing and not overwhelmed is a showcase on how great it is.

now excuse me, I have some challenges to do :)

I just think it is boring and overhyped. And I hate the online play because every match I went in had some idiot sooner or later.

On the Call Of Duty 4 side, Yes I think it is better. It isn't overhyped, The single player is good, The online is good and I know more people who play Call Of Duty 4.

I actually traded my copy of Halo 3 for DMC4, last week.

I wasn't impressed with Halo 3, at all. It just seemed shallow compared to the first 2.

I like both games, Halo 3 and COD 4 get a ton of playing time from me.

I'm a Commander in Halo 3 and Level 53 in COD 4.
